In case you dont know, there was a release of new Xbox Series X few days ago, more powerful than usual crappy PC, does 4k in 60 fps with ease

    Apples vs Oranges

The consoles do a lot behind the scenes to turn off elements not found in the PC game's menu, like disabling headlight shadows on cars, using half resolution global illumination passes and reducing shadow quality. There's no high resolution texture pack (not even on Series X, S fares even worse) on top of many other compromises. For ray tracing, a checkerboard rendering approach is used for all systems - even PC - so what are effectively half resolution RT reflections on PC become quarter resolution on Series X, calculated at 1080p, reducing to 720p on Series S.
    ...
The biggest optimisation beyond internal resolution is the roughness cut off. Basically, on Series S and X, the rougher materials in the scene - like duller metals, marble, polished tiles and the like - do not receive ray traced reflections and fall back to cube maps more readily. In this sense, consoles are lower than PC's medium (ie lowest) RT preset.
TL;DR - consoles don't render with the same high fidelity as PC's.

WRONG, there can be compromises in raytracing, but PC is crappy in raytracing too, did Minecraft on super powerful PC and fps went to 30, lol (in full hd only), THERE ARE lots of high resolution texture packs already for Xbox Series X versions of games, you can find them for download since the launch of Series X optimized games and they are showed in games setup as HD resolution texture pack (even called that way , this system does 12,15 teraflops

The point is, nobody cares about headlight shadows, the point is, this console can do Division 2 in 4K/60 fps, so gives us that, 30 fps is laughable slideshow. 60 fps also decreases input lag in controls

Incredibly powerful, it is more powerful than 90% of current PC´s, it is designed to run games in 4K 60 fps and most PC´s cant do that, maybe GTX 3090, lol

I like how you claim digitalfoundry are wrong about the lower fidelity, then claim nobody cares Still, if you prefer a non-RT game, lets look at their analysis of Assassins Creed Valhalla:

TL;DR - it's not rendering at native 4K. This is consistent with other games:

Note how 60FPS is only supported @ 1080p. Something which a $200 graphics card can do

Just for info, all them games out there at present that are upgrading to the new consoles are just very small updates and does not represent the power of what the next gen consoles can do.

We will all probably have to wait another year until you see the full potential of the next gen consoles.

I was going to buy a series x yesterday but of course once I started searching for one I quickly realised that the whole of the UK and probably everywhere else has sold out. Plenty on ebay of course at hugely inflated prices which they can keep.

I found this quite surprising as there are no big launch titles available at all and only a few old games getting a fps increase. So not really sure what all the fuss is about and why people have to have one on launch day. Probably wont bother getting one until the new year now when hopefully some new big titles are released that can show off what the console is capable of.
