This has been happening to me. Yesterday when I closed for the day the game would not revert to main menu. It was only this morning that I noticed that the game did not save for several hours yesterday reverting back to "digging up the past mission" at a point where I was in mid shopping for clothes. Then I had the problem today. I finished the shopping I was in the middle of but noticed it was not saving nor reverting to menu. I got fed up and did some mission progression without shopping and it seemed to save some progress. Then when I went back to shopping and the problem returned. It makes me wonder if the thing that is breaking the game ability to save is shopping??

I was told if you switch the game’s affinity to 1 core in the task manager during the softlock it helps. Not sure if it’s placebo or an actual workaround.

Thank you so much. That trick actually helps the game goes back to the Menu Screen. I changed my affinity to 1 core and it worked. Just had to change it back afterwards. Huge thanks.

Same. Don't know how shopping affects saving tho, seems irrelevant, but it always makes my progress lost.

Alt+F4 during the menu save has a great chance of corrupting your save game. As we can't load an earlier save starting from scratch is the only solution as I see it.

Both issues are related. You alt-F4 during the game tries to save, so you interrupt the process and it doesn’t save. Thus, you lose operators and progress.

Upon further investigation with lots of patience, I found out that when it ‘softlock’ upon clicking on Quit main menu, if I let the process runs for 5-10 min, it eventually goes through. The game is not frozen, it’s just trying to save and it takes veeeeeeryyyyy long for some reasons. Best advice I can give for now is if it happens, just let it run in the background otherwise you may lose progress by alt-F4ing.

This problem is really getting to me.

Not recommending others buying the game as long as it is in this state.

After starting over twice and losing progress countless times on top of that, I must say that I probably wont play it again.
