So apparently that's how the popularity of ps5 and xbsx is spread across the major countries..

I've always known that Sony has an advantage over Xbox, but I would never expect that it is so hugeI always prefer xbox and still I don't understand this delight with ps .. also in my opinion it looks terrible
Well this is kind of misleading since it is only based on amrket shares of pre orders. Based on all the news so far it is assumed that Xbox has significantly less consoles ready to go compared to PS as of now, so it kind of feels only natural that Sony has an advantage in that way. Also the most impiortant future market (china, not only as a market but the future dominant world power) seems to be in MS hands which (depending on actual numbers not percentages) could very well mean theyīll sell more there than everywhere else combined apart from northern america and Europe.
The difference in both consoles is, and that became very clear with this launch, is simple: The Xbox is the way to go if you want the mst horsepower in your console, the Playstation is the way to go if you want the most hyped Lifestyle product, the actual performance differences will be marginal, the onyl real difference will be in terms of exclusives. If you want the best tech: go xbox. If you want to be part of the cool kids: buy Playstation. Since style over substance is deeply embedded in human behavious since forever it comes to no suprise that the Playstation in the long run pretty much always will come out on top.
Iīm getting a PS5, had a PS4, before that a 360 but because D. Mattrick royally screwed the Xbone Launch and most of the TV stuff just wasnīt relevant in the country i reside in (and in the end relied on apps i could get on ps4 or straight on the tvīs anyway) i changed to ps4 and now just because of bc its the logical step for me. Gamepass has no value to me because for my taste there is hardly anything to play on and i donīt even save that much money compared to buying games on and by themselves.

- This is by no means a definitive indication of how both consoles will end up performing.
- PS4 has sold 110 units, Xbox One barely reached 50 million...So it's to be expected for that trend to drag into the next gen, albeit for the beginning of it.
- Exclusives! I mean Ghost of Tsushima (Future GOTY, mark my words) Final Fantasy VII remake, God of War, Spiderman or Horizon Zero Dawn blow any Microsoft exclusive out of the water,
This generation though, will be MUCH more competitive and that's good for us the consumers. I mean, look at what Microsoft tried to to with Xbox One at release vs what's currently offering with Series X and take a look at the biggest markets (US and China) the gap is rather close.
I doubt there will be more or less competition this gen. Both companies already stated that they expect very much the same distribution of consoles in terms of sales throughout the generation. They have a different approach to how they think of a sustainable ecosystem for them, with Sony going the way of exclusive storydriven 3rd person Action Adventures and MS going all out with Gamepass and some exclusives in terms of racing, fps and western rpgīs (assuming they make some of the upcoming bethesda games exclusive since they bought it). Plus the already mentioned differnt target demographics.Originally Posted by Megas_Doux Go to original post

Besides, Xbox One is more powerful than PS5 and its consumers policies have GREATLY improved from what Xbox One tried to do. That launch was one of the biggest and most deserved failures in history. I assure you that, by let's say, 2026, PS5 won't double the sales of Series X and S.
I play third parties on PC and always go for the Sony exclusives, but this generation should be way closer.
i highly doubt Xbox One being more powerful than PS5Series X is more powerful in terms of GPU Terraflop numbers, in other areas PS5 has the clear edge (I/O interface bandwith, the custom SSD) and another difference seem to be the architecture. Series X has its own velocity architecture that basically relies on "basic tech off the shelf" while sony went with much customized stuff (from cooling method to geometry engine).
How it will play out in the end remains to be seen, as of now and without too much knowledge on techdetails i would assume that in the beginning cross gen multiplats (like AC; Watch dogs, others) will look slightly better on SeX due to the sheer horse power, as soon as optimization will set in for both platform the differences will be minor to not visible except for digital foundry breakdown when the pixelcount starts. Rest assured no dev of multiplat games will make a game look significantly better on one console over the other, those who want the ultimate experience will go for PC anyways.
When it comes to sales, well the assumption of the ratio 2:1 in favor of Sony stems from the assumptions of both, Sony and MS who for now go with it and i would estimate when its all said and done it will boil down to something like that. If in the end the ration stands by 100:50 (in million) or 90:60, yeah possible, but who would give at rats *** at that.
edit: But as said in the end, the clear choice for performance is the Series X, the obvious choice for Lifestyle and flexing is the Playstation. In the end what is more important: having the best tech available (in terms of consoles) or to make the neighbor jealous. And in 2020 (plus going forward) i think it is clearly the latter, especially if there is a clear cut performance option that takes the cake everyday: PC. but that will cost you significantly more money.
The one thing that will be interesting to watch how it unfolds is the Series S. This may play out to be a gamechanger (for MS) oder a disatrous Gamebreaker.
Strangely the sooner the launch date comes, the less excited i get fot the new hardware somehow, donīt know if this is just a usual pre-release "i canīt wait anymore" blues or something else... But the idea of scalping my preorders and buying other (non gaming related) stuff for the money i can make off those preorders gets more attractive any day... I wonīt it though, i suspect just the "i want it now" feels to kick in.
The times where Pro Evolution Soccer was exclusive to Playstration are long long gone and even then i think it was merely console exclusive because they were on PC. And the beginnings of the franchise were on the SNES anyway.
I think the only market where Xbox "traditionally" had an advantage was the US and canada, Europe and Asia always were more into the Playstation (not counting nintendo) and over the (meanwhile) decades brand loyalty established itself pretty strong.
The problem with this is it's no longer the PS vs Xbox ..... It's PS vs Xbox AND PC put together ......Originally Posted by Gorta22 Go to original post
There is no money is selling game consoles anymore, they are giving them away at cost .... The money is in selling games and services and Microsoft is selling their games and services to both Xbox and PC on equal footing which will give them more total sales of what is actually profitable .... games and services .... That's why Sony had to jack up the price of their exclusives by 10 bucks a pop ......
