I basically keep them around 500 for both deflection and close up work.
When I set them under 200 it really rips a plane up- is this modeled in?
The job gets done either way but at 200 plane around 500 barely get damaged. How far off could it really be?

I tried 1000M with a nose cannon and actually that really worked nicely at all ranges.
