I'm saying the Army should do better background checks...especially on someone whose family comes from a country we are at war with. I don't know for sure which middle-eastern country this guy is from, so I am not jumping conclusions there. I'm just making a general statement.

I think I have earned the right to think what I want of them...in the last war.

Don't some Muslim converts take a new names? For all we know he may not be Muslim at all. I'm just saying who knows where this guys from, or his motivations. He may have just gone crazy like people do..all the time.

Lets all just stop jumping to crazy conclusions until there are more facts.

That's why this is so bad... and it is not a matter of jumping to crazy conclusions.. this is bad.. [i] No one is jumping to conclusions.. this is not the first time.. and this definitely warrants much much closer scrutiny.. but there are people who will jump to their own conclusions.. and act accordingly.. That is what scares me.

Personally, I think it's way too early to be jumping to any conclusions about the shooter's possible motives based solely on his name.

For me, for now, I'm more concerned about the welfare of the victims, their families and their comrades.

Okay, then who here can tell us at the time of this posting:

Where the gunman was from?

What religion he was?

Did he have any "normal" issues that trigger people to go on shooting spree? (we have them every few months here in the US, not exactly unusual)[/list]
I know extremists will use this as tasty propaganda no matter what the facts are so I guess facts don't matter.

Also the fact he was a psychiatrist and a major doesn't mean they don't have mental illness, and go bat **** crazy now and again.

Based on montereys post that I had to remove, I think conclusions were indeed jumped to. I see he backed off that position somewhat, but racial slurs are unacceptable IMO.

I've personally earned the right to my opinion, and I toned it down for this forum.

If I am mistaken, then I will eat crow.

    + 1 jarink

It has less to do with his name, race, religion or country of origin than what he's been possibly indoctrinated with.

White power, black power, militant Islam, etc are all virulent and dangerous corrupting of minds.

My heart goes out the victims and their families.
