AI team management - solo player

I long for the day that I can micromanage each individual squad member with specific orders; man that turret, get on that rooftop with a sniper rifle, flank from that direction, etc.
It would also be nice to assign them 'classes' and order them to use their special abilities during combat. Any developments for AI team in the pipe? Or are solo players a minority?

I would be happy if I could change the amount of teammates.

Plus they are way too hard to kill for the enemy. On extreme they should have the same amount of health like the player and suffer from locational damage.

That's a good idea. I'd use my character points to expand my squad. Have a couple drivers, Humvees, and roll with a caravan instead of just the 1 car and 3 guys. Build up a little mini platoon. That would be cool. The original ghost recon had a squad of 6 guys that you could divide into sub squads and give a host of specific orders to.

And while we're on the subject, it would also be nice if there was perma death for your soldiers. Like the original ghost recon, this would give you a greater sense of vulnerability and loss if a poorly planned ambush goes sideways. Of course, this would require much greater tactical mechanics built into the game engine and ghost recon is 'really' far cry now. Not sure if they'd be able to pull that off.

It would also be nice if I could either assign a solder to fly a helicopter and provide air support, or if I could fly the helicopter and order my guys to perform a ground assault while I fly. It's annoying that they automatically appear in the heli with me even though I did not instruct them to.
