Reassure me, we're talking about a small cut scene of 40 seconds, or in the worst case (or best case, depending how you see it ) of 2-3 minutes of climbing a cliff and unlocking a mechanism with a MD character.
Not a big deal really. You play it fast, and that's it, unless you make a New Game + you'll never have to play it again.

Even when the MD was more important, like with Desmond, it was never really long. I liked Desmond's story though, so I hope it will be interesting this time because I was disappointed with Layla's story in Origins and Odyssey.

well funny thing is that you won´t get "thrown out of the immersion" because modern day is coming into the animus. Somehow this could be interpreted as huge troll towards those voices who always claimed they don´t want modern day and now its creeping even into the animus

but actually, when i watched a videorecap of the story so far (by walshie) although he obviously doesn´t like odyssey i found an interesting point in his clip. Apart from Subject 16 in brotherhood mentioning desmonds son and eve, Juno in the cutscene at the end of AC3 states "go train your sixth" and i highly suspect its the sixth sense Isu had and humans didn´t and where eagle vision/odin sught is a product of crossbreeding. Which is basically the whole premise of the FoA DLC in Odyssey, which makes me think that maybe aletheia is maybe somehow connected to juno in a different way than opposing her and her vies, because she is responsible for training the sixth (sense) and after years of quiet Eve got mentioned and got "her own questline" in FoA.

Yeah.... I’d still like to skip them. Whether they appear in the game or outside. They’re not going to make modern day anything other than the equivalent of all those poke a stick at the audience in a 3D movie scenes, it’s the equivalent of randomly having a character break the 4th wall for a comedy skit in the middle of a dramatization of war & peace.

it just really takes you out of the moment to say “look at how clever we are!” In the dumbest possible way.

Do we know if we can skip MD in Valhalla? Even if we can just pop back in the Animus as soon as we're pulled out without having to play as the MD character?
I hope we can skip it!

It’s one of the things I hated about the early games — especially when they forced you to play modern day sections.

I’m not interested in the Animus BS, AC lore or any of that.

I just like the concept of playing in various settings throughout history, with a 3rd person, open world game — that has combat, stealth etc. These new generation of AC games have in my opinion had the best most non linear gameplay, that’s why I like them better.

The last two games let you pretty much skip it entirely.

It was great. They were super boring.

As yallaswag already states, the MD comes into the animus (at least some parts of it).

So this means that you - just like any other wealth, mysteries and secrets - simply encounter it in the world. The advantage of that is, that these elements will be voluntary, meaning you can just skip them if you don't like them and don't mind missing out on AC Lore

"I really hope Insomniac games will patch Spider-man, so we can skip the lab sequences and the sequences playing as Mary Jane, it's so immersion breaking. I just wanna play as Spider-man".

The story wouldn't make sense, and it's the same with Assassin's Creed, or they need to make the story really pointless and shallow first, perhaps then it would be possible.
There are already lots of familydrama and fantasy games out there, let us also have a game with a decent sci-fi story.

Please just open your mind a bit more. I agree that the modern day story hasn't been really interesting since AC3, but it's part of what makes AC so unique. Having the advanced ancient past, more recent past and modern day all intertwined is what makes the story much more interesting than most other games out there, if done right ofcourse.

lol perfect analogy. That said, you can actually skip the puzzles in the lab but not the entire lab gameplay itself.
