There is nothing they could do with D3 that they haven't done or could do with D2 apart from take us though another year or two of growing pains.
D1 is better game play than D2 because they stuck with it and gave the players what they were asking for, they need to do the same with D2.
Stop messing about adding useless stuff and listen to the players.

Not only would I like to have a winter setting again, I also loved the panic, desperation, and survival themes from the first game, over the rebuilding theme from Division 2. Being in the middle of society falling is way more immersive than dealing with what comes after, in my opinion.
Not sure I understand what your saying. From what I recall the first game was all about reclaiming and rebuilding New York. At the end of the story line I seem to recall Benitez telling us things we getting better and some were even thinking of opening up their business again. New York was starting to recover slightly, it was even hopeful ...

Where as Division 2 all that had failed and The Division was all but decimated. We're scrounging for supplies and gear and macgyvering the Shade Network to get it into a functional state again. We seem to be under siege from Black Tusk, Sons, Hyenas and Outcasts. If anything Division 2 is the survival theme surely?

    I'd prefer them to do a "1.8" on Div2 before releasing a Div3.

So MSV, how about releasing all the gear gatelocked in the DZ into the LZ? That would make a nice start, and a sign you are willing to listen to your playerbase.

To clarify. the outbreak that causes Manhattan to collapse is an immediate crisis. One day, life as we know it, the next day (week) humanity made a 180 and has to deal with the new situation.
The division 2, which takes place 6 months after the outbreak, the initial crisis is averted and a new power struggle is at hand. You are right that both games are about rebuilding, but in my opinion in the timeline of the second game, everyone already is a survival expert and adapted to the new situation. I prefer the theme of a butcher or a housewife having his/her watch glow and grabbing a weapon.

Just a random thought occured ... would you prefer Division 3 or a Division 1 reboot out of interest?
