So I'm doing some farming on the summit right now. Man I wish I'd recorded this, so I'm on floor 81, first objective is to take down hacked turrets (4 servers). Gave me 4 NPCs. Then second half, objective is "survive the drone ambush". First off, if you're gonna use the word ambush, it should at least look like one. Like, let me get inside an empty room, lock the doors behind me, turn off the light, make eerie noises, disrpt my skills for a few secs I don't know, but anyway I'm getting off track.
So survive the drone ambush, I run a few steps back to switch my scanner pulse to a jammer pulse, I get back in, 2 drones are hovering there doing nothing. Since I ran back they're not on alert, I shoot them both down before they even realize what's happening. Then I get ready to use my jammer pulse for the other waves aaaaaand... it's done! That's it, 2 drones. That was the most boring floor I ever got, obviously didn't get any loot out of it which makes sense.
I haven't played the summit in a while but is this normal? Or did I mess up the drone ambush by going back to switch skills? not that it would be on me anyway but I'm having a hard time accepting that a single wave of 2 drones "ambushing me" is going to be an obective on a legendary floor.
Edit: So I played up until floor 84 and the other objectives seemed pretty normal and balanced. Still, that kind of things shouldn't happen, especially on 81 and above.
Yes, I have seen some pretty easy floors. I don't usually complain about it. LOL.
The first time I made it through the 91-99 floors, was actually after seeing some of LightKola's posts and video, which I found very helpful. But in the floors 95, 96, and 97, I think I got three in a row that were just two bosses of opposite factions engaged in battle.
To me, that s the easiest of them all and is very welcomed on those high floors. Since they are agro'd on each other, you can just sit back and wait for one of them to win, and the other one will be down in armor so far it will be an easy kill.
Or, since one is usually the BT tank with the super deadly stinger hive, you can butt into the battle and shoot out his backpack to ensure you won't be facing off against that when the other NPC dies.
I also find the drone assault floors very simple and welcomed.
But speaking of randomness, I have not yet been graced with the luck that LIghKola's video shows in the hunter fight, where they don't rush in and pretty much put up an easy battle. No, for me it has been nothing but pure pain -- and I have tried and given up on it. I'll play it when they make a second pass to make it actually playable -- instead of the mess that it is right now. It is the biggest example of cheapness in a boss fight as I have ever seen in over 40 years of video gaming. An absolute failure.
I am sure the guy that lead the level design of Wall Street mission was not involved with The Summit, because THAT guy knows what the F he is doing. That mission is a masterpiece. Challenging the first dozen times you run it, but absolutely doable, doesn't shoe horn the payer into having to play with some specific build, and no cheap surprises.
I've seen that kind of thing in the past but I guess it had been a while since I played the Summit. Still, I'm pretty sure it was the easiest floor I've had on Legendary and it was the first time I'd only get 2 ennemies to kill as objective, and drones at that.
Haha yeah to be fair, I used to be pleased to get easy floors when I was trying to reach the top. But this time I was just doing some quick farming, wasn't even trying to reach 90. And I don't mind that the randomness gives us easier floors but 2 ennemies shouldn't be a thing, on any floors really.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
I'm glad to hear some of my vidoes helped you. Oh man, yeah I've seen those bosses too, mostly between objective though. I also love to just sit back, relax, let them have at it and take a bet and who's gonna win.
As for the hunters, are you playing solo or in a group? I don't know if I'm lucky or if you're unlucky but I haven't encountered mtoo many issues during this fight regarding this fight. But when I first reach floor 100 I was solo and no idea how to do it and during my 10 or so attempts, I did get rushed a few times, maybe 3 or 4, Sometimes both at the same time, or sometimes as I was almost done with the first one, the second would come in and game over. Couple of times I also got insta killed by skills (oxidizer and hive I think).
In a group I've had a wipe only once. We were full squad, 3 with experience with the 100th floor and optimized build, 1 with a really poor build (even though SHD lvl 530) and first time fighting them. On our first attempt, two of them rushed us almost silmutaneously while our skills were disrupted. Didn't last very long, we wiped.
After that we realized the 4th player was running something supposed to be a DPS build with like 10 CHC, 30CHD, 2 pieces Aces&Eight (no sniper rifle equiped) and that's all I remember. Poor lad was doing his best, we had him put back a tank build he was using on other floors so that he'd get some agro when they'd breached the door and also Tardigrade armor. Went really smoothly after that.
Hunter's behaviour is very unpredictable and depending on what they do you can have either an easy battle or a nightmare. But with a solid group it should be doable even if it takes a few tries.
For me the summit is poorly executed, cleared 100th floors a couple of times, but my major gripe is that npc damage are way of the chart where once instance a thrower took out 1.3m and 400k hp in just one shot on me. Also accuracy of NPC in cover is ridiculous white tusk in cover can shoot 100% well, and warhounds along with tank is frustrating.
