When it's good news, there is usually a developer coming in, confirming something with a winking smile and that's it.Originally Posted by CyCzarn Go to original post
The fact that such confirmation hasn't happened yet only strengthens the initial assumption.
I think it has more to do with the abilities. In ACO you'd use the shield using LB, but in ACOD LB is the botton for abilities, and you can't have any other button for abilities nor a shield. The alternative would have been to use LT for the shield, which is the same button for the bow, so you'd need to press a button to switch to a bow to use it.Originally Posted by spike000001 Go to original post
So it could have been a controls preference.
Also, it could have been more, like multiplying the amounts of animations needed, because now every weapon would need an alternative animation to be used with a shield.
It could have been many things.
Obviously, I would have loved the shield in ACOD as well. don't get me wrong.
those things that are quirky and funny dont remain funny for more than a minute. any joke isnt funny the third and forth and fifth time. and dual-wielding shields is just a joke. I dont think anyone would use that option. Frankly I dont see a reason to wield a shield in the right arm either since you can't block with it....Originally Posted by SoulBrotherNr3 Go to original post
And it seems to me, which is just a very very personal opinion, that dual-weilding spears or any other two-handed weapon, looks silly.
So I don't see why they included silly options over super common ones like one-handed swords. Dual-wielding heavy weapons maybe, but shields as a weapon instead of a sword?
Now THAT's a joke.
C'mon dude .... The necklace of Leonidas would have been dumb AF ....... The entire opening scene and the other scenes with Leonidas and his necklace would have been totally meaningless .... The spear of Leonidas was integral to the entire storyOriginally Posted by spike000001 Go to original post
In the last moments of the furious battle the spear shatters and the fragments are forged into a arm-cuff or something... Just a little more story telling. As for controls - sure, you are certainly right. They should have thinked of this before the controls layout. Take a simple shooter - "well, we need a button to bring up the sights... Aaaah, RMB is allready taken with jumping... Naaah, just drop the sights, they allready have a crosshair."
Shields in ACV - i dont know. They seem to have a iron boss (is that the right word in english?), The round bump in the middle. Underneath is IRL a hole for the hand and a wooden grip, mounted to the whole shield. Because viking shields were not strapped onto the arm (unlike most greek). We will see if they got this right (but probably not...).
In ACOD you could still use a two handed weapons while the spear is on the back. there is no need for the spear to really be in your hand unless for some special abilities, and in that case, the player could hold the spear in the same hand as the shield. i doubt that was the problem.Originally Posted by spike000001 Go to original post
Anyway, a shield for ACOD , like ADS or an assault rifle weapon type in shooters is like the swords in ACV - the fact those are not in feels a lot more like an omission than not including something that isnt necessary and will not be missed.
Maybe they thought it would be boring to show super common combinations, because they are super common and nothing special...Originally Posted by topeira1980 Go to original post

The link above is the video below, only at the right moment where you can see a couple of minutes of sword gameplay. Two handed, but I guess it's the only kinda sword we're gonna have.
