There's games in which I can tolerate those cartoonish weapons. but AC is NOT one of them.Originally Posted by longjohn119 Go to original post

Meh.
I will try dual shields just to see how they work but certainly not play with them . Will try flail and hammer .Originally Posted by Megas_Doux Go to original post

At least it's confirmed. My disappointment is immeasurable.Originally Posted by Dj0rdje12 Go to original post
In the comment section in this video there's a lot of damage control from AC fans going on about how rare swords were for the time period, and how only the rich Norsemen of status could afford them so it shouldn't matter because it's not Historically accurate. I just want to say, on that note, of the 100+ weapons found in Viking age pagan burials in Iceland, only 16 are swords, so yes they were "rare" but not THAT rare. The iconic viking sword did exist in great enough numbers that they should be included.
Plus we've already seen other vikings using them in trailers. The assets exist, and Eivor is the leader of a settlement. It would make sense for him to use a 1h sword. Ubi screwed up in my opinion.
I'll tell what is even more rare historically .... a frigging Hidden Blade ...... And people being able to dive off 100 ft steeples and land on their backs without a scratch ....
That's why the historical accuracy argument is and always has been a joke for an Assassin's Creed game .....The game has never been historically accurate since AC1
A big part of the problem and I said this 2 years ago about Odyssey and no shields, is this .... Making a game on a game engine built for these ancient underpowered PS4 and Xbox One consoles means that if you want to add something new to the game you have to take something away .... In Odyssey to add the Spear of Leonidas and all it's functionality they had to remove shields .... In Valhalla the ability to dual wield and have a shield meant something had to be taken away and that something was apparently one handed swords ,,,, NPC density in cities is another thing that had to take a big hit the last few yearsOriginally Posted by CyCzarn Go to original post
Hopefully once they drop support for these technologically ancient and obsolete consoles this will change .... Having to support these old consoles is the same reason why native 4K @ 60+ FPS is impossible on next gen consoles .... It's not the PS5 and Series X that have the problem it's the game engine is made for low power and low resources (DRAM and VRAM) and has to swap things in and out too much which just kills the framerates
PS5 and Series X users are going find out first hand what us PC gamers have had to put up with for the last 3 years ,,,,, Having plenty of power but no way to utilize it efficiently ..... And that is not Ubisoft's fault, that is Sony and Microsoft's fault because of their ridiculous 7 year long development cycle ..... There is nothing else in this world that still has a 7 year long development cycle except game consoles .....
I say we make a petition to get them to add them back inAs long as we are respectful about it. Maybe they can patch them in after launch. Ubisoft usually listens if enough people chime in. Let’s keep this topic hot and post on it everday so they can see we really want one handed swords ⚔️
I don't think they will add 1h swords honestly. I've been trying to gauge which place the devs take notice of most so maybe they can just see that we would like 1h swords. I have no idea if they listen to feedback here, others in this thread say they don't and that it's no use. I think the devs mostly listen to feedback on reddit, like they did with the Fate of the Atlantis DLC baby controversy(which I honestly didn't even care about) but unfortunately I notice that moderators on the Assassins creed subreddit like to remove comments that are critical of any newer AC game that don't form part of a general consensus...Originally Posted by FGx1988 Go to original post
