My wife and I blazed a hot firey trail all the way up to Legendary and hit a reinforced concrete and rebar wall of unmoving +25.
Holy sweet jesus, I have builds that kill stupid fast, or do tons of fire spreading herpes goodness w/Vile mask, but man is it obscene at times.
I can get to floor 85 from 81 solo, but the moment that drones are in play or a single minigunner comes out, myself solo, or my wife and 1 coop get hosed.
Last night a minigunner got me. 1,888,046 damage in one good burst from his minigun while I was shocked and standing there peeing myself as 500k volts surged through my central nervous system.
Grenade launcher dudes that can curve nades round corners.
Grenade launcher dogs that don't even bother to launch, they simply run up and kick you in the larynx. lol
I think the worst was respawning and running into the first room for the 4th time and 3 Rogue Agents spawned in. Bro come on. There's nowhere to fall back to. I killed 1 by setting his punk *** on fire with my Fire build that does like 450k fire damage per tick, but when he died he wasn't close enough to the other 2 to transfer the herpes along. Guess he never learned sharing is caring. The other 2 simply outhealed my wifes seekers and turret damage with their healing seekers. I tried to help her, but they got me with the oxidizer cloud. I guess the oxidizer cloud doesn't actually work unless youre a rogue agent because all mine does is make enemies move position, the one they hit me with I didn't even have enough time to move from the cover I was in.
What a slog. And we're expected to do 10 floors of this **** with 3 random directives on? And floor 100 is supposedly even worse? Heroic floors were fun, they were hard, but pretty fair even with directives on. The jump to Legendary was like when I used to play WoW and my buddy took me on his mount to unlock a bunch of the waypoints and I aggro'ed a mob from Northend at level like, 12. I don't even remember the mob swinging their weapon, I just got a stern look and then I was dead.
As Division agents we are already Junior Varsity and get all the lame second hand hand me down gear, then you add in rogue agents that have better gear, faster cooldowns, and the White Tuck who are so powerful I'm not sure how they havent just wiped our existence from the entire game world yet, and my wife turned to me and said on our 8th try....this isn't even fun anymore.
I agreed with her. Legendary Summit is not fun. For those of you that enjoy that, by all means, but I'm not gonna keep beating my head against that wall.
Maybe some day we will get a true to life Underground successor instead of this...whatever its supposed to be. We were both UG lvl 40 and unless we were doing the 4 man runs with our friends, we almost exclusively played in the UG. All the metro system DC has, I'm surprised they chose a skyscraper (lol its really not) setting.
Each to their own. Fortunately for you, TU11.1 is going to change it so that you can select what difficulty you want to play on, along with exactly what combination of directives.Originally Posted by xJdKxZomBiE Go to original post

That's fine and all, but I never asked for it to be dumbed down for my liking.
I made it to floor 85, that's good enough for me. Even being able to do the last 15 floors isn't that appealing to be honest. All the loot it's dropped so far is nothing better than what running around the city doing activities can provide.
It's pretty much what the survival mode was to me. Nothing more than a niche activity to fill in a void. I was so excited for Survival until I learned it was a separate mode, and when you beat it, you still had to start over with nothing. The excitement quickly faded. At least UG was fun to me, personally.
This is about where i am at with it as well. I got to 89 solo a few times now but its so time consuming and somewhat stressful as 3 bullets from anywhere and im dead, add in the drones and its straight insanity on some levels. I can deal with the way OP damage they deal, i just cant do both when they are releasing like 5 drones at a time on me from every direction. Its always the drones that get me in Legendary but seeing as how that is their last sense of how to make it difficult in this entire game i shouldnt be surprised they are doing it in here as well. Not mad about it at all, i just wish difficulty in this game didnt ONLY hinge on spamming skills or nades but its been like this for 5 years so its not gonna change.Originally Posted by xJdKxZomBiE Go to original post
Change your build, think things through, get a solid group. Legendary is unforgiving, it doesn't care about a build that works great on heroic, so you may need to adjust some things.
I've done it several times, a few times off mic with randoms...it can be done.
But as you said, it ain't worth your time...so I'm probably barking in the wind.
I pretty much agree with the op. I actually enjoy summit and was looking forward to solo legendary. With directives on I just found it not even close to being fun. After grouping up a few times and getting stopped at the rogues on floor 100, then having to repeat the long grind of the first half of 100, I can’t wait for the summit update.
After reaching floor 100 solo last night, I too have also reached my final verdict on The Summit and I would give it a big fat "F". The reason is simple -- like every other piece of content they have released after this games first release, every single bit of it has been released with horribly bad balance. It isn't until they get the feedback and go sharpen their pencils, and after a month or two the content gets fixed so it is fair. And by "fair" I mean that a player with over 1,000hrs in the game and which can solo all other heroic content in the game without going down, should be able to succeed.
Some call the second pass to better balance content as "dumbing down", but that is not at all what is happening. It is simply making the content actually playable across more than say two builds which the content is designed around.
For the record, I do not have a problem with the directives or the difficulty settings. What I have a problem with, is bad level design. Everything up to floor 91 is quite fine. But the trek from floor 91 to 99 is just bad. It is continuously punishing and in no way fun, and the worst part is that it doesn't fundamentally make you improve your actual game play -- instead it makes you figure out how to play around bad level design.
What I mean by that, is people have figured out to just kill themselves when a certain combination of directives pops up. Players have figured out that for each build, there are directive combinations that are just a hopeless waste of time. For example, if your build leverages a shield (and I can't see getting through the 91 to 99 floors without a shield) ONE HIT from a special bullet will break your shield. So people just kill themselves at the checkpoint to get the directives re-rolled.
But the biggest problem I have with The Summit is that you can get to floor 100 and get shut out from beating the hunters. That should never happen. It should be a fundamental rule in game design that if the player does not have the build to succeed all the way through, that should be made plainly obvious early on. For example, if you play the legendary strongholds, you might finds that the opening battle is usually the hardest part. That is kind of a build check. If you don't have the build to get past that opening battle, you find that out real quick up front.
But with this content, they have made it where you have to go through 90 floors to see how it is going to be. And you can get to that final hunter battle with completely the wrong build. Which leads to my next HUGE problem with the design.....
There is no way to get to your stash at that point. You need a tanky build with a lot of armor on kill to get trough the 91-99 trek. But once you are walking into the hunter battle, it seems you need a dps build. Armor on kill, or talents that are centered on buffing after a kill, do not benefit you. You may even find another specialization will work better for you. And guess what you can't do?
You can't fast travel to the white house to get access to your stash and/or change specializations. You can change specializations if you previously built a loadouts across the various specializations. But if not, you are locked into whatever you used to get through 91 to 99. You can't even go down to the lobby to get access to your stash.
So there I sat last night, after literally 10 hours straight and probably a dozen attempts at the hunters fight I finally had to give up.
Oh, and they didn't check point so you can resume at floor 100 either. And there is no soft check point after the first room either. So each time you wipe, you have to do that over and over again. And when you do that, do things drop that might be exactly what you need walking into the next fight? No, because that would be good game design.
So, they expect us to suffer through forced directives, one shot grenade kills, amplified robot tank damage, etc. They also expect us to find one specialization and build very effective for floors 1-99 and then find it is absolutely gimped against the hunters. And I have seem plenty of videos with people solo'ing this fight, and the hunters basically camp and don't move so you can just keep hammering his head with a rifle or MMR. The at least dozen times I tried, every time it was the same. Within a minute or two BOTH hunters have rushed into the area everyone camps from and are DPS'ing me from front and back.
Apparently, you have to just keep trying until you get "better luck:".
Seriously? Anyone that plays this game knows their implementation of the RNG concept is completely farked. So they think putting RNG into the AI is a good idea?
No..... what should have been done is the AI takes into c0onsideration the build of the player, and the play style, and creates an experience that is not easy -- but winnable.
There is one youtube video of a solo run where the player was stuck in the open, out of cover, and was blinded and shocked at the same time. But the hunter standing 5 feet away with every opportunity to fire and drop the player -- just stood there and waited for the player to kill him instead.
I want those Hunters to bow, roll over and play dead without firing one shot when i walk into the room. Is there a level lower than story?Originally Posted by T0NY.HAYABUSA Go to original post
