Hej
When the game was first announced, I remember hearing or reading about the option we may have during Eivor's adventures to chose between the standard "viking approach" or a more diplomatic one. The way I understood it is that we will be able to decide if we want to be at war with every other factions, or make alliances and maybe work for or with our allies in war. Maybe I was wrong.
Do we have news about it? I've watched I guess all feature videos about the game and I havent found clear things about that.
What I really would like to know, will it be implemented the same way than in Odyssey but with more factions than simply Sparta and Athens. Maybe something about raising influence or lowering power to then being able to be allies with factions?!
Or will it be even deeper and complex with diplomatic choices having effects on the main story (we can dream cant we?! haha)
It's basically about discussing how linear the story line will be, and how many option we will have when the main story arc is played, when in the "endgame" (when we'll continue to play to level skills and play the game for raids, exploration, secondary quests and pure fun)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the subject and have a nice week-end!

I really hope so, but I suspect we haven’t seen anything about it because it’s not there. It may be that it’s not going to be as non-linear or dynamic world as Odyssey, but more traditional conquer all regions (climb the towers), that seems to be the impression I’ve got so far but of course maybe people haven’t had enough time with pit to get an impression of this side of its there.
I hope we’re able to really lean into the diplomacy and not be forced to be an utter scumbag (like in certain other AC games).
Likewise. As with the other AC games, I plan on being as pacifist as possible with the only kills being the ones the game forces you to do (hopefully none except the main antagonists, though I’d love other ways to deal with hem too).Originally Posted by DreadGrrl Go to original post
More than two factions being at war not 100% of the time (maybe) will bring more complexity than what we had in Odyssey anyway.
Now as said above, I'm afraid that battles/raids/ or flipped regions wont have an impact on the game, just like in Odyssey. I can easily imagine us flipping all regions of the map except unflippable major cities and the main arc continuing like if nothing's happening...
I'm now interested to know if for instance Mercia and Wessex could have a changing diplomacy: being at war, making peace, war again, and so on, or is it a preset relation that you cant change.
Guess we'll have to wait 30 more days before knowing for sure

Diplomacy is nice and all but it fails to stop war more often times than not historically ...... And let's face it many Kings of that era were total jerks and manipulative liars so there is no peaceful way to deal with people like that ..... Sometimes you just gotta punch a bully square in the nose .......
