The way they go with for valhalla seems a better one to me, if you really want to git with the rpg route in terms of having choice/making decisions. The other option would be to properly go all the way and include scenarios for all kinds of decisions and combinations but for whatever reason that seems no option (controlling the narrative aligned with the lore, laziness, inexperience with such game types, whatever...)
The first time I played I killed Stentor in Boeotia and I chose not to save Deimos at Pylos so he ended up killing mother and I ended up killing him leaving only me and Nikolaos and he was the only LT I got for my ship so I had to go way back to the Kings of Sparta quest and do it right so I could get all 4 LTs ...... They must have changed it later down the road if you got all four no matter what ..... Originally none of the LT upgraded either so whatever level you got them at that's where they stayed for the rest of the game, so each time you leveled your stars up you had to go out and recruit 4 new LTs ......

It seems to me there are other consequences ..... If you fight and kill Rued then you get the chance to recruit Finnr however if you let Oswalt fight Rued then Finnr pledges his allegiance to Oswald instead

Thanks! I hadn't seen this. I would probably like to have Finnr as a LT on the Drakkar.

Good catch, I didn't noticed that twist. Finnr will come in handy, Rued is a dead man

About this argument,I have a theory.
At a certain point Eivor asks help to Oswald if his clan will be in peril.
So my theory is that st the end of the game there will be a big battle between the Raven Clan(and I hope also the hidden ones) and the Order of Ancients.
In this big battle probably all the alliance we made and the number of the enemies we killed will have an importance.
Therefore probably the second choice(killing Rued at the wedding) will be an importance,so that we won't disappoint Oswald,we'll kill Rued and will get also the help of Finnr.
    What do you think?
    Could this be possible?

My thoughts exactly .... The first time I saw this video I decided I was going to let Oswald fight him but then I watched it again and realized that I (likely) wouldn't be able to recruit Finnr ...... There still might be a way to recruit him but it doesn't look like it to me so I guess only time will tell

This is just one choice in a fraction of the total gameplay loop so I wonder how many more things like this will happen by the time you finish the game which for me will be months because I learned my lesson with Odyssey that if you only play what looks like the "main" quest you are actually missing a big part of the overall story arc ..... I expect to have a fully upgraded settlement long before I finish the main story arc ...... That's how you get the overpowered assassin character everyone seems to desire for the end game

"A good christian saxon is a dead christian saxon!"
I plan to "roleplay" my whole game like that. Slighlty evil, slightly brainless, but why should I care? I'm a viking after all!
I didnt come to England to hug and kiss ...
The thing with Finnr is now an additional reason for me to behave like that
