Maybe you played Far Cry 2 and maybe you remember the vehicles in there. (If you didn't played it yet, it's not too late.)
We have had two licensed Jeeps there (Wrangler and Liberty).
If I have the choice between an armored truck with a GMG and the Jeep Liberty it is a rhetorical question which vehicle I would take. (The Jeep of course, because it has air conditioner ... I prefer the M249 anyway).
But I am interested what players (= you) think about product placements in video games like Far Cry. Is it alright for you? Do you hate it?; and which points are important that your current existing opinion would change?
Check the poll or post something... or both.
1) It shouldn't be far fetched and torn out of the context.
2) It should be well paid for Ubisoft.
For example, villain's brand of clothing, sort of wine he prefers.... or our cars, clothing and other stuff.
Ubisoft should have a good profit from that - "Your product will be in a popular game. Good advertising. So, we hope you won't offend us with money..."
But, in general, I don't want to see Far Cry as Goods Market or Ad Agency.
The game is primary.
Unfortunately, we see how games step by step became secondary.
Money became primary.
The sad thing is that it's happening not because of somebody's greed but because they have to to do it.
They have to be richer and richer, bigger and bigger otherwise another bigger predator will devour them.
So, we can see how technologies grow and quality of the games, as computer games, degrades.
People are starting to remember old games.
Remakes became popular.
Old games ..... when gaming industry was not "all about money", when games were made by fans. With great interest.
When every new game was an Event, something New.
Who would have thought in those days that "Fortnite" and its parodies will dominate in the future?!
Ubisoft with product placements are mostly known to appear in their games in the 2000s, not necessarily in the 2010s. Like most game companies these days, we are more likely to see fictionalized versions of their real world counterpart. Based on several google searches, there's product placement in Watch_Dogs 1 and Steep, but none in Watch_Dogs 2, The Division or Far Cry 5.
The smartphone in Far Cry 4 was certainly not a product placement. I don't think Anton's lighter or Diego's smartphone and earbuds are product placements. Don't expect product placements for future Ubisoft games.
