Wait... so this game is from a different team and has a different name, yet it shares the same features from GRFS and is free?
Why don't the teams join up and finish just one of the projects?
I think I'll play conspiracy theorist for a day:
[Conspiracy] Ubisoft Paris started working on GRFS over a year ago. After releasing the E3 demo video to the public, they soon learned that their game didn't stack up to the competition. Ubi Paris decided to scrap their project and start up a new one. Ubi Singapore recieved what was done with the GRFS project and turned it into a free to play online PC game called Ghost Recon Online. The new Ubisoft Paris project will be shown at this years E3 event. [/Conspiracy]

They haven't told us ANYTHING. They are not GOING to tell us anything. They might have turned it into the next Metroid for all we know. They might have canned the whole concept and turned it into this...thing.
Matter of fact, I wouldn't put it past them. The modern way to make lots of short term money IS microtransactions after all, right? When you do not bother to make a good game, but want to make money off it, microtransactions are the way to go, right? Long term, there is little future in it, but why would they care? Not their problem if it tanks in six months. Its not like they would support it anyway.
Why SHOULDN'T Ubisoft use the same stupid pay-for-decent-stuff bargain basement MMO plan?
Of course it is STUPID and SHORTSIGHTED, but hey, why would they care? It would make them money.

Closed beta?
What does this mean, i thought it was a public beta?
How do we get our hands on the beta?
You’re saying people would be more inclined to part with money on a ‘not good game’ having had plenty of chance to play it for free than if they couldn’t play it before buying?Originally posted by kalenath:

Although ive always prefered the FPV in GR games, its free and could still be fun. Wont complain about that![]()
The only thing is, if they make this free to play and it seems to be similar to what we've been told FS will be like, what is going to make people want to buy a full product later down the road that is likely going to be similar (if not identical)? I mean how many people are actually going to buy a full priced game for SP and then a multiplayer game they can already play for free? (although as i write this i realize that soooo many people are still buying CoD games despite the MP being essentially the same and a degrading story line as each game comes along) And since the majority of people nowadays seem to buy games mainly for MP, i can see it hurting FS sales.
Although i could be very wrong as we havent heard much of anything about the MP aspect of FS yet, so maybe they are going to be completely different. But at the same time, there is only so much you can do with MP in shooters.
