SHD Points and only allowing 3 of 7 weapons to be unlocked

So whoever came up with the idea to only allow 3 of 7 weapons to be unlocked at a time must work in the same department as the person who came up with a 300 count limit on gear. Both are unbelievably stupid and a complete waste of time. Why would you not allow us to unlock all the weapons instead of having to go back and forth to respec every time I switch a load out? I mean what do you want me to do with all my extra SHD points anyways?

I get it, having to go back and respec is annoying in the least.

If they put some weight behind respeccing specialization elements (like a resource cost) or better signify which specializations were meant for what weapons/playstyles and then put up a cost for swapping specs, then it would make sense, yea. It'd give your builds and/or you as a character a stronger identity by incentivizing that you maintain a certain build or playstyle. But with the complete freedom we have now, it's just "oh, go swap out your shotgun damage bonus for an lmg one real quick." I agree that it's a half-baked relic of what they initially started out with. This is something that's always bothered me, personally.

Specializations are a mess, they are not relevant as classes in games, but they still get in your way when making your build, it's like your keep hitting your toes in the table everytime you want to change something because the bonus most fo the time are not relevant but still want to adjust that free bonus

I am missing something here. What do you mean by "respec every time you switch a loadout"?
I don't have to do anything when I switch from one loadout to another..

You're just talking about switching between load outs that use different specializations. The issue in this thread is switching between load outs that use the same specialization but different weapons.

In any given specialization, you can only spend points in 3 weapon classes (rifle, assault rifle, light machine gun, etc.). The problem is that if you want you use a specialization in one build where you use an AR and LMG, and you want to make another build using the same specialization but with a SMG and a Shotgun, you would have to respec the specialization because you cannot have points in all of AR, LMG, SMG, and Shotguns all at the same time.

This is just plain stupid. Specializations seems to be a lame attempt at making character classes while making it possible to still use all weapons and gear despite the "class" you choose. The result of this is signature weapons that never get used most of the time and spec points that are wasted on many builds.

    Oh!, OK.. Thank you.

The "switch loadout" part threw me off.

Specializations were meant as an extension of your "playstyle". It was frustrating that AR's weren't compatible with the demo spec for example (demolition favored shotguns and LMG's) that's why they made a change to it.

Now you can use every weapon in every specialization without losing raw weapon type damage, but like OP states, it's limiting specialization variation if you don't want to respec every time.

A solution could be to get rid of the weapon type bonuses altogether, and replace them with other bonuses that are better suited to the specialization.

Or just let us fill in all the points once we farm them and we can use whatever weapon we want on the fly. Also let us change the spec on the fly too. Make the game fun and less frustrating. You know what games are supposed to be.
