Hello here,, ive a serious question , ive finished and enjoyed both AC origins and odyssey, both required AVX cpu instruction at launch (but was removed with patchs some times ago, like weeks...)
I really need to know if your AC valhala game will hard require those cpu instructions or not, as i planned to maybe take a Xbox series X in a near future
Ive a first gen i7 980x 6cores/12threads cpu, overclocked at 4.5GHz and its paired with a 980ti, and it can run like a charm every AAA games at 1080p vsync very high settings without any issues (except death stranding and horizon zero dawn, as , they hard required AVX cpu and guerila games not planned to EVER made any patch for old cpus...its just not launch/silent crash at start ...)
Ive reached ubi support and they told me to wait for min requirements list (but NOT if avx would be a hard requirement) , but all pentiums and many 1st gen I5-i7 are logicaly capable to handle recent games (like read dead 2, division 2, origins and odyssey, modern warfare 2019, metro exodus etc... )
Please dont wait the launch and the DL (somes like me got a bad internet too ....) and the frustration of a crash of the game we waited/pre-ordered (i imagine some early testers/youtubers, support team, QA testers etc got an old cpu or a laptop with recent pentium to know if the game start, or not)
Waiting for the clear and simple question, will AVX'less cpu users would be able to run (or wait for a patch OR , if ubi planned to not patch it like guerila games done...)
Cya around and hope we will enjoy this game in (a distant ?) future o/"
It is a very old processor, I had never heard of it. Although it is also 6c / 12t, I believe it is better to invest in some Ryzen 5 line, which are processors with a newer technology, compatible with DDR4 memory and with 65w of consumption, presenting a relatively long half-life and being cheaper than current intel models.Originally Posted by ogmdevitry Go to original post
Yup a R5 3600 uses half the power (130W vs 65W) is 53% faster single core and 66% faster multicore performance ...... The electricity savings alone it would probably pay for itself in a couple of years ...... It was a helluva CPU when it came out (and expensive like 5-6 times the cost of a 3600) but that was 10 long years ago and a lot has changed in 10 years .... If a person wanted to stick with Intel the i5 10400F or 10600K are both good choices
"upgrade or stay behind"... im just asking a simple question about AVX support , took and keep your advices for you, we arent ALL able to upgrade when we want (bills for house, car, studies for childrens, etc) , and as i said ...all the "bigs" AAA games works fine, a 350-600$ tax for playing this AC game simply ==> NO ...
Ubi removes AVX support for ...the crew 2, origins, odyssey and maybe others title for a reason, and ...for your info , they can patch for "old cpus , for compatibility, even if its not perfectly smooth, AND keep avx or else instructions for newer hardware"...
We are all gamers, im not tryin to argue , for devs optimising their new games for toasters, but at some point, just devs can simply SPECIFY, when this AVX is HARDNEEDED or not...just as simple.
Yeah yeah !Originally Posted by ogmdevitry Go to original post
I have seen similar threads all over internet !
You guys just cant stand that the game can', will not run on your toaster, and so you all making stupid petitions to press Devs to make changes downgrade the features !
Same goes for Linux support !
As I said early on, first was SSE 4 support, and now this !
Example on steam Horizon Zero Dawn, petition to support Windows 7, witch is already obsolete and no longer supported by Microsoft.
And even AVX is hard coded to the game, People still demanding it removal.
