here's what i don't get... this is s'posed to make up for yet another **** up... er mistake, in a VERY long line of **** ups... "mistakes."
so how did this go in the office?
"well we did it again, now we gotta give these demanding shi... customers a make up gift." shakes head coyly
"aah man i know, but look on the bright side... we can throw that fortnite D Eagle at em & they'll loooove that!" smiles excitedly
i mean did no one, not one person say "well you know they have been asking for more authentic tactical gear, & i mean we did just forget to add the AUG Scout. what if, i don't know, we gave them what we told them we gave them in the first place? or, uuuh maybe we could just give them the type of gear they want."
no one, NOT ONE PERSON thought to mention this? not one person thought that would be the just & correct thing to do? as oppossed to trolling us intentionally with this fortnite vomit?
what is it that you "guys" don't get? there is obviously a great divide in the game that was marketed in the beginning to be a much more realistic experience compared to what you have... delivered.
and, after all that we've been subjected to from you up to this point, due to your refusal to aknowledge us your playerbase aka PAYING CUSTOMERS & our expectations/ feedback (looking at you Cross-draw vest with handgun holster... but NO handgun IN THE HOLSTER!!! W T F H!?! personal standards? pride in ones work? anyone? ANYONE!?!), this very unauthentic paint can vomit of a firearm (for a Ghost Recon, would be right at home in WD:L) is what you guys thought would go down well with this community & the tons of feedback given up to this point?????
HOW!?!
how was this a conscious decision?
how does this show in any way whatsoever that this studio has any clue whatsoever about what a Tom Clancy game is supposed be?
how does this say to us that "you are listening." ?????
you are fully aware that you are not working on fartnite... correct?
it is blatantly obvious that this studio would much rather be working on a project much more akin to said fubarnite.
but heres the thing... YOU'RE NOT.
you are the VERY FORTUNATE owners of a Tom Clancy IP, NOW ACT LIKE IT!.
(posted this a lil while ago on pg7 of another thread. thought about it & decided i want to get it out there a bit more for discussion, hope the devs see or get notified. we all just want an authentic Tom Clancy GhostRecon game. it really is that simple.)
I hear people talk about 'Tom Clancy', but I've never read a Tom Clancy novel, I saw 'The Hunt For Red October', that's a Tom Clancy yes? And I've played Wildlands and The Division.
There must to be a gritty reality and authenticity in the books that I'm not seeing in those movies and games.
I'm sorry you're not happy about it, but Breakpoint is a huge distance from Fortnite even if it fails to meet the bar of your expectations.
So please help us to understand what an 'authentic Tom Clancy Ghost Recon' game is 'supposed to be' (isn't that for Ubisoft to determine), because I'm enjoying Breakpoint (granted it's better now with immersive mode and the AI mode which arguably should have been there at the start) and I don't think it deserves the level of anger that's being fired in its direction.![]()
Unfortunately you won’t get to really play some proper Clancy games to learn about how the games should be unless you have a backwards compatible device.Originally Posted by SofaJockey Go to original post
The division, WL, breakpoint and siege aren’t proper Clancy games. You should play GRAW, GRAW 2, GR future soldier, rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2 are good as well. If you like stealthy games you’d love splinter cell as well, those are brilliant games and all Tom Clancy proper games.
Hope you get to play them, enjoy.
The "Ryanverse" novels are known for their technical accuracy. So much so that his debut novel The Hunt for Red October opened a lot of doors for his future projects. I believe you can get them for kindle these days. The "short" ones are probably around six hundred pages and Rainbow Six clocks in at around a thousand, so set aside a day or so.Originally Posted by SofaJockey Go to original post
With that in mind at a simplistic level for myself I would describe a Tom Clancy game as one which attempts to create a realistic experience through the use of a plausible setting with plausible technologies, coupled with unforgiving combat. Sadly, in my opinion at least, the Tom Clancy brand has been degenerating under Ubisoft into generic trend chaser games. Take for example Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 as being the last of the actual "Tom Clancy" games as they cancelled Rainbow Six: Patriots in favour of a PvP shooter. The cynic in me notes that it happened just after his death...
The basic concept of a PMC taking over a private island is a bit goofy but believable enough to be a good backdrop. However it's then brutally executed by the super-tech of Auroa. Cryogenics, neural-cybernetics etc. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they thought that by including them they could tap the Cyberpunk 2077 market. Have you seen the concept art for the Wolves compared to what's in the game? The Wolves in the game make me laugh. While the concept art is still beyond modern day military gear it looks far more plausible than the goofy villain outfits they wear in the game.
I would say Wildlands falls within the Clancy brand because the game's entire premise is basically taken straight from clear and present danger.
Though lets be real the clancy brand is kind of meaningless at this point since his books have fallen out of relevance (the ones that were ghost written within his brand), as most people know him nowadays as the guy whose name that Ubisoft puts on all their games (or to a lesser extent the Amazon Jack Ryan TV show).
I actually think he should start way back.Originally Posted by rugby_dog Go to original post
Rainbow six 1, rogue spear and all the other ones that came following this line.
GRAW already started to go more in the wrong direction.
WL would have been in the right direction because it would be the you have your decision on how to approach your missions type.
Like on the first rainbow sixes.
Granted that would expand to an entire open world instead of just the mission area.

Honestly I have never thought much of Clancy's writing. Larry Bond on the other hand..... This book though is the first in the Ghost Recon series. It'll give you a pretty good idea on what the premise of the team is, how it operates, the kind of missions it would undertake etc. And no they wouldn't help some guy collect items for a fishing lure. Don't worry it is a pretty fast read you won't be wasting a whole lot of time. There are drones but they are almost exclusively just for Recon. More in the Wildlands format but even Wildlands pushed beyond what is in here.
Not a Tom Clancy novel, I should point out.Originally Posted by Steven527 Go to original post

I like GRAW, I didn’t mind so much the direction it headed but I get what you mean.
