This franchise has so much potential I don't want to give up on it yet. There is nothing like it out there, so it would be, in my opinion, utter madness to take a market follower approach with it and make it a carbon copy of Ubisoft's other IPs and the myriad of other uninspired looter shooters. Over the years Ubisoft has taken what they've deemed as working ideas and put them into their other games. It might sound like a good idea to take working ideas and combine them to make the "ultimate game", but in practice what has ended up happening is that every game just has lost it's identity and they've all become bland.
With all the garish and tacky weapon skins, the airsoft gear etc. it is pretty clear someone in their hierarchy doesn't want to make Ghost Recon, but still wants to take advantage of it's established brand. Or maybe the artists you're hiring are technically very good, but lack the love, understanding and burning passion to work on this world.
This community is filled with people who take time every day to try and understand what went wrong and what would capture that magic that drew us here in the first place. This is where I am obligated to remind everyone again of OperatorDrewski's great video ("I MADE GHOST RECON ACTUALLY GOOD - Ghost Recon Discussion": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0g50Pv0X8o) of ideas about what would make an awesome Ghost Recon game that would capture the tactical military shooter fantasy this franchise was supposed to be and made it what it is.
Also lets not forget about a story that would earn the title prefix of "Tom Clancy's".
Thank you for the work you do. Even if this community has been sometimes even overly critical lately, it comes from a place of love.
