Starting with the positives:
The story is closer what I expect and want in a Ghost Recon game. I'm happy to see the intel gathering style from the raid to designate targets, and shows that my idea for an "Immersive Mode Raid" is actually viable. One thing I’m grateful that at no point were there super drone fights or transhuman super-soldiers, and while it was forced to work within the constraints of the earlier story it felt closer to Ghost Recon and less Metal Gear (nothing wrong with Metal Gear, I love them as well though they're bonkers.).
Pathfinder class is great. I really like their pet drone. Nice and versatile whether you’re using it to scout or strike the enemy. The only bit I’m not keen on is the tactical caches. There’s too many of them, and I’d prefer them to be fewer in number but filled with much more stuff. Cutting back on the numbers would obviously make it harder for the Pathfinder to charge their ability so my thoughts were that it can also be recharged by taking over one of the numerous Drone Stations on Auroa.
On to the negatives:
Prior to the update there seemed to have been some changes made to the ballistics of the weapons with DMR and SNR categories virtually eliminating bullet drop, post patch the bullet drop is back and at times wildly inconsistent. Using the MK14 Assault (the SLX5, Vertical Foregrip, and MAWL-Da) I had two guys at one of the roadside checkpoint (or “Please-Shoot-Me-Stations”) They were 200m away so to hit the first I had the usual point and click mechanic, but to hit the second I had to aim as though he was 600m away! He'd moved around 10m back and slightly up a slope... Physics in general are fairly stuffed. I’ve had a few unaware guys leap a good three metres into the air in disbelief. I’ve been getting thrown 50 to 90 metres of a helicopter when stepping out of it (sometimes embedding in the ground as well). I’m finding that someone has covered stairs in grease again, and vehicles feel bouncy as hell for cornering. Base-jumping has improved to a 60/40 chance of it working before you face plant into the floor, keep going guys it might work properly one day. The AI revive bug is still there where it gets to around 25% and then resets.
The new one is the one that REALLY pisses me off. On multiple occasions reloading weapons has bugged out leaving me unable to reload or draw a pistol. Forgive me for being blunt, it just happened for the third time and I’m feeling a bit “chafed”; this kind of **** is why I will NEVER play a perma-death mode in a Ubisoft Game! I hope to god that you’re not wasting resources on one for Breakpoint instead of ironing out the bugs.
Can't comment on the Raid I haven’t tried it since the patch, and PvP isn't my thing.
Overall I've enjoyed it especially Pathfinder but there's a lot of problems, some old, some new.
