it was okay, however 2 BIG THINGS IRRITATED ME SO MUCH,
First of all, whoever Designed summit is as a level designer.... we're you on LSD or did you have ubisoft point a gun to your head to rush stuff?
so many objects clipping through walls, broken textures, Doors missing, Invisible barriers, mesh gaps, broken doors that don't fit the doorway?
i'm honestly curious what on earth caused this design to be flawed beyond anything i've seen in D2 even the classified missions have 50x more effort put into than summit, and for what?
Second, Let me give an example on this specifically. BROKEN SPAWNPOINTS.
Having the "hack" objective" next AND I MEAN LITTERALLY next to 2 DRONE SPAWNPOINTS WITH INFINITE DRONES, is NOT funny, we litterally cheesed it with 1 person standing there with armor and a healer. because it was litteraly impossible to DPS them, as they INSTANTLY respawned next to you,
with broken spawnpoints i also refer to Invisible enemies popping up from out of nowhere.... i've never seen this before but today i got an invisible rusher smash me to bits by spawning in my face,
besides being able to skip 5 hours worth of content and finnally after 500+ complaints be able to go straight to heroic, that was atleast somewhat fun.
but in true honesty, yes Summit has a lot of potential, No summit is not something i'll concider even comming back for.
i've done 20 floors now and the objectives are just bland.... i'd love to see more hazard, traps, various archtype setups, (**** directives), ii wouldn't mind a "floor modifier" but directives just ruin my fun, tried it. hated it.
i do wish the devs to look deeply into what i wrote regarding spawns, level design.
as this honestly pisses me off, i paid for a AAA game, not a Indie game.
It's a really tough situation for Massive because we've been screaming for new content for months and unfortunately we finnaly get it, but the problem is the errors and the gaps that continue to anchor the success of this game just immediately ruin any new content. Im specifically talking about the loot system here.
For me, only 50% of the Summit is playable(Floors 51 through 100). They released the Summit when more than half??? of their player base already have ranked up their characters. Therefore, Floors 1-49 are effectively useless because there is no reason to play those floors becuase you wil not be collecting any loot worthwhile.
I personally logged into the first floor of the Summit just to see the visuals and appreciate the brand new content i was getting, also just in case there was a cut scene like when you first fly into New York when you started WONY campaign. However, after 13 floors(1-13) I was comfortable with how the Summit mechanics worked and I was ready to move onto a challenge. I immediately left my group and started MM for Heroic floors to really start farming loot.
On that note, Summit should not be included in the "targeted loot" pool. The loot system, as broken as it is, the last thing I want is 49 floors of gear I dont need. Not to mention when the target Loot becomes "MODS" Summit will be an absolute ghost town.
If the intention of Summit was to offer re-plauyable content, I honestly expected this to be a gigantic Loot Farm situation. I did not anticipate targeted loot being attached to this content, I think it should be removed(if possible)
Is there anything good about it? I think yes.
- It is new content
- There are a mix of factions at every level
- You can farm loot(quality is a conern)
- There are named enemies
- There are a TON of enemies
- There are hidden or locked crate rooms inbetween levels(nice touch it just gives that little extra to the content)
- At the 10th floor(if I recall correctly) there is a Vendor <------ Great idea as i had a ton of loot to sell after farming those floors
- Whenever there is a x2 XP modifier active within the season you can level up through half the season in about 3 hours HAHA
- They mentioned it would be similar to how Underground worked in Division 1. In this regard I think they nailed it. The Summit is almost identical to the Underground in how it plays linearly and then you can just 'opt out' and go back to base at anytime. This really helped build anticipation for this content and overall I have not been let down
My overall experience says that the Summit will fit in quite nicely to the franchise when the foundation of the Division gets fixed around it. Once the loot system is balanced, once the Enemy Damage Output is balanced or Agent Armor values are tripled -- the Summit will play exactly like how we remember the Underground in Division 1. Until these big ticket items are addressed Skyscaper will continue to be on rocky footings.
I hate the directives, in any gameplay, but especially in something like Summit. It should be optional to have directives. Less rewards for no directives is fine with me. But as it stands at the moment, I will not be playing Summit. Hoping that beyond the first agent in Manhunt there are no more forced journeys into summit. I am really disappointed that they hitched Summit to Manhunt and depending on how much it is involved with Manhunt, may stop me from playing Manhunt...and probably the game in general.
Would have been better to just make an actual poll we could click on to vote. Anyway, I have yet to do Summit on the live server, but on the PTS it was average. I did not love it but I did not hate it either. I wish it had windows and at least SOME sort of view, even if it were a 2D "skybox" of sorts. I think that's what made me not love it. It never felt like I was in a building above ground. More or less I felt like I was in that Umbrella Corporation base from Resident Evil. All I was missing was the zombies. I mean, after all, one of my backpack decorations may as well be a T-Virus vial.
Regardless, I am looking forward to actually doing Floor 100 in live, because on the PTS it had that bug where the Hunters would smack you down through the walls. I do hope they fixed that.
Only completed 10 floors*, but I found it kind of enjoyable, far more than I thought it would be. I like the level design and how it is paced, although as someone else mentioned spawns are a wee bit wonky at times. We need way more objectives. Floors 6-9 I had to do the SHD crate defence on each one. I'm already bored of doing it and this was on my first run, so some mechanic that prevented us getting the same task for several levels in a row should be added! Pronto!
As said I've only done 10 levels, so I'll play some more and see how I feel. I don't think this will draw me in as much as UG did in TD1, but whilst I enjoy it I'll play it.
*Floors 1-10, super easy but I was not in the mood for anything more than that after the frustrations of TU11's bugs and the broken fire tower on Stranded Tanker; that put me in a really foul mood, along with the 15 minute timer for Liberty Island; doing that on a Skill Build character isn't the most fun.
Played for around a half hour. Got bored insanely fast. There's something about the repetitive floor layout and overall theme that's just dull and boring. Saps all of the character and theme of The Division 2 out and boils it down to a bunch of soulless disconnected encounters.
Someone said it earlier, probably in a video: With Underground there was at least some narration going on. A voice on the radio telling you interesting things as you progressed. Summit doesn't have that. Summit doesn't seem to have anything interesting except a few questionable decisions.....like mandatory directives and a wasted first 50 floors.
I don't know. The entire thing seems like a mistake to me.
After doing 10 floors I'm out. Idk how they expect people to do all 100. Basically just super tedious and boring copy paste floors.
I can already feel the burn out from this "highly replayable" mode and I really dont want to go back to it.
If I ever get the exotic, this is another Kenly College I will never touch again.
Also no windows looking out. Really...
Just finished summit. I skipped most of it. By the time we got to the final bosses there were 3 of us, so 4 hunters.

The trophy is nice:

And I used this set for an easy run:

I enjoyed it and will definitely be farming Legendary for targeted loot.
The first run I did today was at Floor 51. We got rogues immediately and one dropped the triple god rolled chest I have equipped in that screenshot. A few floors later I got triple god rolled Fenris mask...
Loot seems better. In the last 2 weeks I have managed to upgrade 4 items after a drought of months.
Notice the bug? It doesnt show the new mod slot items in the attribute list below my SHD score on the left... It says 11 red and 1 yellow...
