I got AC4 yesterday and it was working perfectly fine I even completed 6% of the story with all settings at "high"

Vsync off
Physx off

Today, it barely reaches 10 FPS, normally around 5, and that's on low settings!

I am wondering what might be the reason.

My Laptop specs
Intel i5-7200U 2.50GHz
RAM 8 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 920M

I did try unchecking one of my CPUs in the processor affinity and it didn't help.

Can anyone advice me what to do?

Check you haven't got anything else that's decided to run at the same time.

Also try turning Volumetric Fog off, that seems to cause problems for a lot of people.

I turned volumetric fog off and made sure the game was the only thing running and still suffering the 5 FPS,

Hmm, odd. Could be a hardware beginning to fail issue, I can't think why else it would just flip to not working like that.
