Comparing the mop to other shotguns it feels like it needs some adjustments.
The (underrated) super 90 has been my go to shotty for a while now and after testing it it would seem a good replacement as it would be a lower but stronger version.
The damage of the super 90 however is about the same as the mop or the non named version of it.
The fire rate is a lot higher (+30) on the super 90 and has a slightly bigger mag.
This means there is no reason to use this over the super 90.
The talent is a nice addition to the game though. That has to be said.
In order to compete with other shotguns it needs to have higher damage. The fire rate being low is fine but it needs the kick to support it.
The 1.7 second reload compared to the Super 90's 4.8 second reload seems like a pretty good reason to me. Not that I'll complain at all if the SIX12 gets more damage. I love more damage.Originally Posted by SoulBrotherNr3 Go to original post
Unfortunately I think The Mop specifically does feel underwhelming because of the 5% Armor on Kill special attribute. You're giving up a potential damage increase (in the form of something like Damage to Targets Out of Cover) in exchange for what's frankly a nearly unnoticeable amount of sustain potential. To exacerbate the problem, it's an ability that only triggers if you land the killing blow, which makes it a terrible choice in group play (I mean, more than shotguns already are bad to run when in a large group).
I would have liked to have seen them go a different direction for the new named shotgun, or if they wanted to focus on sustain, do it in a way that wasn't kill-dependent. Passive regeneration, regeneration-on-hit, something like that.
As it stands, while I expect the SIX12 to be my go-to weapon in TU11 for all things shotgun, I just can't see a scenario in which I can ever justify using The Mop.
Problem is that everything was made to be used with the gear set, because with hunters fury you would go from 20% armor on kill to 25% armor on kill making it so you would go from 5 enemies to get max armor to 4 enemies insteas, and honestly find that quite a shame considering how i really like the idea of having a gun with perfect unusual stat instead of just perfect taletns (since most shotgun exclusive talents suck).
Just like ridgway exotic, this was made to complement an already existing build making it impossible to stand on it's own, while many good exotics are the ones that can both stand on their own or be used in builds towards it
