Same applies here. I did not use sarcasm against anybody who hasn't been aggressive, ironic, sarcastic or otherwise dismissive of me.
All the people that have been courteous and have asked serious questions have received serious answers.
That's kind of the problem though. The people who make the decisions that **** everyone off put people like you in between them and the customers to deal with the backlash that their decisions evoke. The representatives claim helplessness, that they're "just doing their job", which obviously angers the customer because the whole point of the representative is to be helpful. Meanwhile the higher-ups who make the decisions that are causing all the backlash in the first place have a nice buffer zone of a few representatives and their supervisors between themselves and the angry customers, ensuring that they never have to personally deal with any of the outrage (thus removing any incentive for them to give a ****).

At the end of the day I'd say you, sorlim, have just as much right to be angry at your employers as any of the paying customers here. They should not have thrown you into the fire without any information, and should have been well aware that doing so would just upset people more. Unfortunately for you, if you barge into your boss' office and start yelling at him to cut the bull**** and give customers what they paid for (which you should fully be allowed to do), they'll tell you to take a hike and replace you with someone a little more obedient. Which sucks because it seems like one of those situations where nothing is going to get fixed unless a few people get yelled at or a few jobs are put on the line.

I hate to say it, but I think the entire Silent Hunter community just slipped between the cracks of corporate bureaucracy. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I understand your points but I think the SH community is still strong. For the community, it's all about passion.

Now that's pretty clear to me.
The 'until now' says it all!
The decision was just made to make no decision!
    Duhhh!
Making a decision to not make a decision would still involve a decision-making process and such a thing has not happened.
The "until now" part means a clear decision should come. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

    So what your saying is:

No decision has been made yet on a decision weather a decision to make a decision
about decideing to, or decideing not to patch again is decided.

    Now my head hurts.

As soon as I'm done with the replies to the posts, I'll publish what I know about the state of SH5, hopefully these first answers should clear up some things.

    Thank You sorlim!
TBH, I haven't had many problems with SH5 other than having to manually install the patch. I guess the servers were too busy to accommodate me. Hope your secretary can do more than look pretty!

However, breaking YOUR balls achieves nothing and I hope you won't put at heart every negative comment. On the contrary, I hope you'll indeed represent our issues to the higher-ups and achieve the impossible, convince them to patch the game further.

I can understand why no further patch has been discussed so far, considering the state of the game at release. I believe that the the devs (or whoever is in charge of patching) either don't understand or don't care that there are still important issues with the game. Not everything can be fixed by modding. In fact it's a wonder that there are still people modding the game. They really need a lifeline.

To be honest, I'm very hard to impress. And what I wanted (not particularly from SH5) was a true affordable naval sim on which I could practice my deck officer skills. I believe that there's a huge market for a really good naval sim, games like Ship Simulator being veeeery far from what's needed. So you can bet that I became disappointed with SH5 from the moment I heard that the 3d map would again be cylindrical. I'm amazed that this aspect has been considered hard to implement since all Mercator projections rely on a simple mathematical transformation. Oh well... Moving on. Here's a few suggestions:

    1. Using the hydrophone is a SNORE. At least in SH3 we had that volume knob which worked. Browsing through the hydrophone station class I noticed that no sound correction feature has been implemented. Which is a damn shame. A good sonarman didn't guess or imagine target aob and speed, he had the tools to do it. I don't know what those tools where, but I can guess. Imagine this as a game DESIGN feature. Mainly the 2 VU meters above the station. They represented the volume on each side of microphones. The volume knob was more of a BAND PASS. By looking at the VU meters, the sonar man could almost instantly notice one meter rising and the other going down, this giving him the direction of the target (port AOB or starboard AOB). Both meters going down simultaneously would indicate a "moving away" target. Both values being the same would indicate the exact bearing of the target (on the rotating hydro). And the pulsating meters would also clearly show the prop rotation. Really now... is this so hard to implement?!

    2. The stadimeter on SOME uboats was very complex and featured an automatic aob wheel which was linked directly to the rotation of the prisms (stadimeter). Now, if the germans did indeed have DOUBLE split prisms (horizontal AND vertical rotation) or they used the vertical movement combined with special diagonal lines with a bank of 45 or 63.44 degrees i don't know. But having more control over the stadimeter would be nice. Can the devs make this feature moddable? I'd like to have a sextant implemented for example.

    3. The horizon bug. I can't imagine how this bug went through. Maybe they tried to mimic the horizon dip or the Fata Morgana abberation. If so, then FAIL. Granted, refraction can ruin a stadimeter reading at a far target but having the band overlayed on the ship is ridiculous. This is a must-fix!
Thank you for the pat on the back!

I'm taking notes from your very detailed post to pass on to the devs!

if the decission is not made yet (as you say) and if, at last, the decission is negative then what is the meaning of your existance here ? to chat with us ?

tell to your company that we don't need persons to communicate with. we need FIXES ! so ,for that it would be better to send one of the devs team here to see if there is light in the dark

ps: Marv942 is 100% correct to everything he told you but it doesn't seem to read at all his words and then you are saying that he is rude. well, just my thought , i don't like your attidute at your reply posts to Marv942

    why stadimeter wasn't fixed ? ( 1 hour job ....no more...trust me i know)
"Chat" is an oversimplification of the duties of a ComDev. I didn't come here just to give you some news, that could have been done through a simple announcement with no follow-ups.

Now I'd like to drop this argument about attitudes and rudeness and focus on the solutions, with the same level of passion.

For example, the stadimeter problem existed with SH3 and I seem to recall that it existed with SH4 as well.

Here's something I don't understand. I assumed that the guts of the game was largely unchanged - that what really changed were the UI and graphics. In other words, I would have expected a high degree of reuse in the software. Yet, we have seen the identical problems cropping up in SH5. Since the same software shop that did SH5 also did the two earlier title, how is this possible? Even if there isn't much code reuse, the algorithms/models for sensors, physics, etc. should be the same. There should be all sort of requirements/design documents that should have avoided all of the problems that appeared with SH5.

I'm sure that those of use with software engineering experience have found this more than a little disquieting. My surmise is that when SH5 was being developed, someone in configuration management gave version 1.0 of SH3 to the developers instead of the final release. That's the only explanation I can come up with for why the same errors showed up with the initial SH5 release, which added some new ones of its own.

I mention all of this because I suspect a key to getting a comprehensive patch to fix problems with sensors, AI, and physics can be found in SH3.
This might be a good suggestion for the devs, I don't know details about the bones of these games. Maybe a modder could also shed some light on this issue.

I know these issues have probably been mentioned a zillion times already but I thought I would bring them up again anyway. I would rather be constructive and make suggestions on what I think would improve the game. Here are some of the bugs that I have noticed, for the most part the game for me is playable.
1)When using F5 to man/unman the deck gun one of the officers says "surface the boat"
2)Camoflage dissapears from my U-boat, sometimes on the entire boat, sometimes on the conning tower only, and sometimes on the main body of the boat.
3)Auto targeting does not account for torpedo man ability upgrades.
    4)Sometimes crewmen's voices don't work
5)Game crashes to desktop for no particular reason.
6)My crew sometimes has raingear, sometimes not.
7)I sometimes cannot get my deck gun crew to leave the deck gun.
8)Aircraft not attacking even on direct fly overs.
9)Difficulty not being able to complete some of the objectives due to ships not being spawned....I.E. carriers and battleships.
    10)Very poor instruction manual.
Here are some of the things aside from fixing the bugs that I think would improve the game. I thought a combination of Sh3 and Sh4 features added would make it great. I know that some of these suggestions are available through mods, but I for one am not too good at those things.

1)A good compass steering system like in SH3 and 4
2)More available sub upgrades like in SH3
3)Being able to buy your sub instead of just being asked if you want a new sub.
4)Sending planes and other ships to recon the area like in SH4
5)Being able to transfer to different flotillas with different boats available.
    6)Medals and promotions for crew.SH3
7)More camoflage options or ability to make your own.
8)Mission editor to make your own mission.
    9)Minefields and submarine nets.
    10)Smarter(but not too smart) AI
11)Ability to turn on the radar system without having to go down and do it manually. I think you should be able to do things like this from the conning tower via the intercom system.
12)No more moving of the periscopes automaticly.
13)Ability to choose new crewmembers with different abilities while in port.
14)Ability to attack structures with the deck gun.
    15)Type IX U-boats
16)Dynamic campain where your actions could effect the outcome of the war or extend it.
17)Little touches that add to the whole experience like burning oil slicks when you hit a ship in the fuel tank, lifeboats, crewmen flying through the air when something explodes.
    18)NO MORE DRM!!!
    19)NO MORE DRM!!!!!!
    20)NO MORE DRM!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Superman! Thank you for the suggestions, although some of them could be dismissed from the start, many sound good and could be put to a debate.

You didn't answer me regarding if you think this is acceptable. Sorlim, do you think the community should have to rely on mods to fix basic gameplay elements like the stadimeter? Do you think it's acceptable? Just interested on your opinion is all. Hopefully you are allowed to give an honest opinion without getting into trouble off your superiors.
I'm not under the big boot of corporate management. I've already posted I don't like DRM solutions but that I understand why companies use them.
About the stadimeter, it seems really strange that such an issue got through especially since I've read some posts claiming it takes one hour to make a mod that fixes it! I really don't know what to make of this.

Exactly. You can take this reasoning and apply it to the plethora of other bugs.

I think your only now truly getting an inclination as to why this community is so annoyed. Some of the bugs are just plain and simply unforgiveable. Not to mention embarrassing for Ubisoft, to see what it's own developers cannot fix in months...the community can fix in hours. How bugs like this were even missed by QA is even more baffling. So you can't blame people for asking you if UBI even tested their own game. How could you test it, but miss things like this?
Again i'm not here to throw mud at people, i'm just stating the blatantly obvious. This game is very much broken & unfinished.

And thank you for giving me an honest answer.

    EDIT
