The Summit (fka Skyscraper) PTS - What Do You Think?

As a follow-up to the post SOTG / pre PTS release thread "The Summit (fka Skyscraper) - What Do You Think?" I thought it would be interesting to see what you think of The Summit now that you've either had a chance to try it for yourself via the PTS or seen others try it via streaming on Twitch or YouTube.

Is The Summit meeting your expectations?

Is The Summit proper **re-playable content or is it more like a very long and uninteresting mission with many permanent save points?

If The Summit is not a satisfactory re-playable game mode do you think it can be turned into one or is it missing too much to be turned into a re-playable game mode?

My stance on the Summit has not changed. I see it as having the potential to be a place for farming gear if the devs get the rewards for it worked out to player satisfaction but it will never be a proper re-playable game mode. Once completed so as o get the new item that is locked behind completion of the Summit I don't see anyone revisiting it from the first floor and playing thru it a second time let alone more than that.

The Summit was an attempt to combine the best of the game modes from the first division, specifically the randomization of spaces from the Underground and the waves of enemies with increasing difficultly of Resistance but it fails to capture what made these game modes enjoyable.

I've already posted in the Suggestions & Feedback forums an idea on how to do a more proper Resistance like game mode using Control Points that could have been done with far less effort then what was surely needed for The Summit. A proper follow up in Division 2 for The Underground is something that would require more resources then what the devs have; it would need to be a paid for DLC so I don't see that as being a viable game mode for Division 2.

The Summit shows that a Survival-esque game mode in Div 2 is viable if the devs will allow it but that is something for a separate post.

**Re-playable Content: Everything in the Division 2 game except for side missions is re-playable so in this context a re-playable game mode or re-playable content means something that offers a different enough experience each time so as to encourage repeat play-thru's. Resistance from the first Division did not offer a different experience but its unlimited waves meant you could keep pushing further and further with each attempt. The Underground offered up enough different spaces with procedural assembled areas that players would need to play many missions in the Underground before it became repetitive. Survival was the closest of the game modes to meeting the definition of re-playable content and its continued participation today by players is a testament to its re-play-ability.

The basic issue is „replayable content” when there is only a tiny basic outfit with real content .. aka story, worldbuilding and world/character development/ progression ..

In a Stale world no one is really interested in grinding the same meaninglessness over and over again no matter how “great” it is ..

In division 1 “survival” was cool since it basically was the way the game should have started ..where you got dropped into that world and had to slowly grow your character and the world .. “underground” would have made a perfect transportation enabling mission .. but as stand alones those game modes were fun once or twice but then stopped being interesting .. no matter the spin.. since nothing changed.. you always started at zero over and over ..

The summit is the same .. if we are not to get a part of the virus cure, a story but, insight, worldbuilding , that mission is fun once, maybe twice but that’s it .
The entire grind for gear is pretty useless if you don’t have anything you gear up for ..
games need way more god of war and way less Fortnite nowadays .. but guess what generates the most revenue ..

You sound like a Survival fan. Like you I felt that Survival was what the game should have been at least based on its pre-release marketing. Who knows, it may be that the original plan was to have the campaign be more like Survival with the cold and clothing and maybe those systems weren't ready in time and so they changed the game to not feature those until the Survival game mode. I always thought that some of the things in Survival must have been there before survival.

In another thread someone compared it to TD1 underground and my take on that is, it's nice when you run few mission the first time. After that is just becomes pretty boring doing same thing over and over again, in the same environment. From what I have seen so far, which honestly said isn't that much, is that most if not all areas look alike with little or no differences. The next thing they should add is survival mechanics where you start at ground level with only pistol and work your way up collecting better gear. That would make it much more interesting, and most importantly repayable. At the moment once you reached the top you can start anywhere in the building, and for some that want higher difficulty you are forced to play at the higher levels. But then again, that doesn't really matter when everything looks the same and only the NPC damage resistance changes as you progress.

A survival mode incorporated into summit maybe as an option would be really fun. As you have to start from normal working your way though the difficulties anyway.

The problem with implementing a survival scenario to the summit would be loot because they would have to give you a crap load of loot and it would have to have good rolls on it in order for anyone to complete all 100 floors as it stands right now you don't get enough loot to be able to put together a build that could make it through challenging let alone legendary

The Summit look likes Kenley College...boring. To do one or two times and is enough. To repetitive, not so challenging, not a long term replayability as we can see it now.
