Idioto Congenitál El Pulpo Refuses to Escape

This is supposed to be one of the easiest missions in this game. It's no problem whatsoever to reach El Pulpo's hideout undetected, and when he exits the hideout, to hop in the handy armored pickup with nifty turret gun. Following him to the airport and keeping him intact is also no sweat...but when this congenital idiot gets to his escape chopper, he just STANDS THERE. You can't talk to him; there is no interaction prompt, and this includes grabbing and stowing him in the bird, too. The mission is stalled. The only thing to do is shoot that filthy rat in the head and give up on him.

What platform, and on-line or off-line?

On the PC, and on-line I've never, ever had El Pulpo not get in the helo. At times he might delay for a few seconds, but that's been the extent of of it in, I can't count how many times I've done the mission - either as part of the challenge series or with a character build.

And no, it's not one of the easiest missions in the game ...

Perhaps you should try giving El Pulpo a little more distance.

Normally I follow him in a weaponized helicopter.

Platform? Windows 10. Online? Yeah, but not in co-op. And, yes it IS one of the easiest missions...with the excepting factor that he never gets in the damned chopper. I've never lost him on the way to the airport, and I've never died nor lost a vehicle I was driving. It's pretty straightforward except that I can't get the idiot in a bird.

I thought about a gunship, but "no" for two reasons: 1) Escorting him to the airport is not the problem, and 2) Helos are NOT nimble; they fight the stick, and the AI teammates have a LOUSY track record of aerial attack (they fire only sporadically, with not much zeal at all).

Maybe I should try giving him a bit more of a lead (the last time I tried, I thought I had, but NO, he just fekkin' STANDS there).

That's a good point - the mission doesn't require the player to hold the helo's door for the NPC for example ...

Just make sure he reaches the airport and heads toward that helo. I'm always busy insuring the bad guys don't kill him.

Too bad you didn't start playing the game back in 2017, then you could have made a video on how easy this mission happens to be for you and showcase it ...

Regardless, all the more power to you and enjoy the experience. Like I stated, in my case the issue has never been the NPC not getting into that helo.

It is not the easiest for me either, that was for sure, one thing I did noticed was that once he reached the airport, if I got to close to him, waiting for him to go while I dealt with the bad guys, he would not get into the Helo so the other times I waited almost at the entrance of the airport taking care of the baddies and allow him to do his thing. He did not got into the a couple of times for me but normally he would.

El Pulpo's response after you've gotten him to the helo and away from the airport. His dance moves aren't bad at all:

He doesn't even mind if you come a bit close ...

    Thanks for trying!

I'm off doing other things, clearing non-mission items before tackling the rest of the story missions, so I'll come back to this mission when and if I feel like replaying it another twenty times or so. There doesn't seem to be an authoritative answer to my query, but thanks for trying. I appreciate it.
