    Perfect Score issue

    Hi there.

So we have had a ongoing challenge among friends to see who can dance a perfect score to Rasputin. This has been ongoing since April and we thought we had finally cracked it today. Donna, our dancer, managed to hit all dance moves perfect, nothing missed, see footage below. No audio because Twitch Copyright but the moves are all there. However she ended up with a score lower than that of a previous run with 2 supers? How does this scoring system work? We've tried looking into it and found nothing apart from top scores are 13,333 and it's kind of bittersweet as the stipulation to the challenge was the max score so now we're looking to see if there's some way we have to improve on all perfects.

It has been frustrating as we didn't know of any penalties or differences using either, controllers, cameras or phones and it sucks we're finding out that even with a full perfect run that we were at a handicap from the start. Surely this is something players should be informed of to avoid situations like ours.

The perfect score on Just Dance is interesting. I've been fortunate to hit all perfects more than usual in the 2020 season, with varying scores, so I know what you mean. I've only hit the elusive 13,333 on a handful of songs this season (more than in previous years for me), and even then I haven't done it consistently on that song.

I used Kinect this year, which seems to make high scores more attainable on more dances, and where the scoring seems to be fairly consistent (more than other modes of dancing, in my experience, but I see some players hitting amazing scores with remotes/phones, too).

The variation has been less with me this season than in previous seasons. I almost always hit at least 13,300 this season when I hit all perfects. There have only been a couple of times where I had all perfects and my score was in the 13,290's. Before they introduced the score of Super in 2018, there seemed to be much more variation. I once hit all perfects on Bang in 2017 and scored in the 12,900's. When you turn around and hit the high 13,200's on another dance with one clear Good, it seems a bit inconsistent.

Even this season, I hit as high as 13,320's with one Super, yet sometimes with all perfects my score would be in the low 13,300's (or as I said, a couple of times in the 13,290's).

I wonder if there may be a few subtle hidden moves, or if it's looking for you to hit all perfects on the dance multiple times (although I have hit 13,333 on my first attempt of one of the new Unlimited songs this year), or if it looks at a player's overall rank. This is all pure speculation, of course. But there does seem to be something missing. Yet another option is that the game gives you some score based on how well you "track" the song overall, and then the penalties for Super, Good, OK, and X reduce this, so if you don't track well enough, even with all perfects the score might be less than 13,333. However it works, it is clear that all perfects doesn't always make a perfect score. One more possibility is that the Gold Move gives a variable score (even though it seems to be all or nothing; you either see a Yeah or an X), so if the Gold Move is slightly off, maybe a few points are lost there.

It sure would be more transparent and less frustrating to see a full breakdown of the score that accounts for every point somehow, so if the score isn't perfect, we have some idea of where we need to improve.

Also, I wish it would tabulate the number of Perfects, Supers, Goods, OK's, and X's at the end of every dance like it does on the WDF. Sometimes, I'm not able to see the screen on every move (like when I have to turn around during the dance). Sometimes, I feel like I had a better dance than normal and only saw perfects during the dance, yet the score is lower than expected. If it showed me a scorecard that said I had a Good, I'd realize that must have happened when my back was turned, and I'd be less frustrated with the overall score seeming inconsistent. (Maybe the scorecard at the end of the dance could be an option through the menu. I'm thinking maybe people dancing to a playlist wouldn't necessarily like the interruption. If we could turn this feature on or off, it would solve that problem.)

But if you hit all perfects or even hit a high score in the 13,000's, you had a great dance. Happy dancing.
