    Saying Farewell For Honor

Im so depressed about deciding to quit this game that I enjoyed for years. This game has always had its ups and downs. There have been many updates I didn't like but I still kept playing because of how passionate I was about this game.

This game is like no other fighting game out there with how unique it was. There have been alot of iffy updates but this one has completely turned this game into just.... complete trash. I've tried giving this game chance after chance and tried hard to deal with the update.... but this update is just unbearable. I can't even enjoy the game anymore... hell I cant even enjoy winning anymore.

Every game you just do the exact same thing now. Button mashing.. no strategy... no defense... just straight button mashing and trying to throw more attacks as fast as possible at your opponent. Blocking and defending is now nearly impossible to do on console. So many characters nerved to the ground... worthless.. now its all about picking the character... throwing the most attacks.

Mashing the buttons like you would at an arcade game you've never played before. Just mindless mashing.

I just don't understand why they make such a great game... keep tweaking it here and there to make it better and better. We were at such a great point before this update. Everything was balanced and was so crisp. The game was more fun than ever. The game wasn't perfect but it was to me.

This game has always had a brilliant combat system. The more time you put in to learning how to deal with certain characters the more fun it became.

Reaction has always been a big part of this game and had made this game absolutely brilliant. Go up against a player that spams lights? Then all you had to do was train to react in time, block and then punish the hell out of them. Pwning noobs that just hit the light button was so satisfying before this update. It truly gave players that put in the work and time the advantage to win. That's what I loved about it.

The reaction based system was so good because when you fought against players that could also react to you it would force you out of your comfort zone to mix up your attacks, feints, guardbreaks, to open up your opponent.

However now with this update that is all gone. All the time I've put in to learn to parry, deal with lights, block, feint... everything is now thrown out the window.

The game is just a guessing game now and all prediction with lights that are less than 400ms forcing you to depend on guessing as defense.. where as before you would predict attacks to light parry.. now you have to predict attacks just to block.

This update is the official birth of real light spam. Light spam has never existed until this update. If you went up against someone who knew how to block lights and actually took the time in training to practice against it and tried spamming you would loose 90 percent of the time..

However now... lights are the strongest attacks in the game simply because they made them nearly impossible to react to and have removed defense from the game.

Every game, every opponent, I just get hit by hundreads of lights and for every 100 lights there would be 15 heavies. Strategy is gone from the game. Lights that I would never get hit by in a million years are now hitting me in sets of 3.

Its such a shame to see a game with so much potential go down the drain and also depressing af to see an update that completely throws all the efforts of veteran players that trained to deal with lights... trained to block and react well.. trained to mix attacks well.. just completely out the window.

Even winning is not fun anymore like... its just sad. Literally all my friends have either quit completely or just play against bots for their daily orders and thats it.

So congratulations devs you've succeeded in destroying this game for veteran players and have handed everything to the new players who spam one button. All just because you wanted more money. You knew the new hero with the corruption was going to be broken but you just wanted the easy 8 dollars a person that bought the broken hero early just to make a quick buck.

Its sad to abandon a game that you've put so much time and effort into but that's what im doing because you completely ruined it. Im joining the hundreds of other players and im leaving too.

Last thing im gonna say is that for anyone who agrees I encourage you to leave as well because honestly they aren't going to change it back.

    Im finished

Farewell For Honor you will be missed.

You're right. I keep going back day after day, hoping that "today will be different" I go in with an open mind every time I play. Maybe today is the day I'll see and understand what they wanted to accomplish with this update I play a few games, realise that the best defense is offense, and not knowing what you yourself are doing. Defending against ligths is 1/3 chance of correct "read" (as the cool kids call it)

They call it mindgames, reads and skill. I call it luck.

In Tekken 7 you have mainly 2 attack directions to worry about, Low and mid/high, for defending, you either crouch, or stand block. But to go into real mixups and mindgames there, you first gotta set up your opponent into thinking you are gonna do one thing, then do another.

For honor just throws that out the window, and you go straight into the mixup by just throwing out a light from neutral, there is no setup to the mixup, you just do it from neutral.
If fainting a heavy on the other hand, you could call it a mixup, 50/50, attack, or feint, do you try to parry? or wait out the faint where he goes into another 50/50 Guard Break or attack?
Guard break can actually be countered by reacting by not already initiating your own attack, which means you guessed/read correctly.
But if he goes into a light on the other hand and you selected the correct answer to block, but then for some reason it's a 1/3 chance he attacks on the side you think he is.
You decide to try to dodge, but guess what, he never did a light, he did a Guard Break.

Which of these choices are most likely gonna give you a good outcome? What are the chance that you selected the correct answer every time? Why even bother go into proper mixups when you can just throw out low risk lights that is already a mixup by itself, then do a mixup that goes into a mixup, that goes into a mixup.

To sum it up, as a defending player, you are "punished" by correctly predicting a feint mixup with you having to deal with another mixup.
Do the devs not see the issue with this?
The mixup should have ended at the time I correctly predicted he was going for feint into a light, not him having another 1/3 light attack mixup as a reward. He could decide to continue mixing it up by doing another heavy feint, but no.

Lights in themself is a mixup that shouldn't be there.

    Anyway, I'm done ranting.

The 100ms of hiding of indicator is to blame. Take that out of the game and every hero will go back to their rightful place.

Almost, I notice a bad trend going on with CCU. The low health characters is overtuned, or undertuned... Their damage doesn't match their health, risk vs reward is horrible, Kensei Lights doing more damage than Peacekeeper heavies.. etc. The balance is out of control. I thought assassins where supposed to be sort of glass canons, with exception of perhaps Berserker, they are all only glass now.

The new assassin is highlander. Just take a look at the first round of this video:

You can't call him an assassin, his light attacks are 500ms in line with all other heroes, while the real assassins have 400ms light attacks.

Highlander consumes a lot of stamina and is always out of breath.

This video is old and does not represent reality, you are just creating disinformation.

Ubisoft made 2 updates on August 4th and August 27th, changing all heroes.

Some heroes have suffered from absurd nerfs like the Highlander.

If you don't believe it, check the spreadsheets.

about 250 rep on Xbox, probably 400 total across all platforms, the update is great at higher mmr or ranked, you just do the exact same as before with spammers, you parry their lights and it makes them want to quit because "omg she's cheating, how do you parry a LIGHT", the indicator frames being hidden personally doesn't even seem to effect it much, as im used to watching the character animations too, the indicator is sort of just a little bonus and frankly could be completely done away with, last time Realistic Duels were up i managed to get parries and while playing as the Tiandi; superior block dodge lights frequently enough, you just have to pay more attention at that rate, the game feels good right now, and it's even set some real low performers on more equal footing this patch, huge improvement imo.
