Ubisoft shadow of death cd rom was not found

    Hello,

I bought HOMM3 complete edition and I get a message telling me "ubisoft shadow of death cd rom was not found" as soon as I get to the general game screen.

I've tried to fix it in different ways but no luck so far.

    Can anyone please help?

    Thanks.

    Hi Rogere75!

If you receive the "Shadow of Death CD-Rom not found" or similar message after you start the game, please make sure that you have uninstalled any previous versions (like a demo, or the retail version).
You should also launching the game by right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" (Windows Vista, 7 and 8 only).

If you still receive this message open the Run menu by pressing WindowsKey+R and type:
    regedit
    and press Enter.
Here look for "New World Computing", there should be an entry for Heroes of Might and Magic III and a sub-entry named "1.0". Look for "CDDrive" and modify its value to:
    C:
This should make the game start without the no-CD message.
These entries should be located here:
    32-bit Windows:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > New World Computing
    64-bit windows:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > New World Computing

If you still have issues after this, can you please let us know.

    Hi,

Yeah, I actually already followed these exact steps yet it still doesn't work.

I didn't find any option to run the game as an administrator. The closest thing to it I found was in shortcut --> properties --> security, in which it seems like I have the same permissions as an administrator.

Is there another option to run a program as an administrator?

Are you able to run the game as admin following these steps -
    - Right-click the desktop icon of the application (or the executable file in the INSTALLATION DIRECTORY) and select Properties.
    - Select the Compatibility tab.
    - Click Change settings for all users.
    - Under Privilege Level, check Run this program as administrator.
    - Click Apply

Do you have the same issue then?

Can you set up a case on our support site and upload copies of your DXDiag and MSInfo files so we can look deeper into this.

Morning. I've tried to open a case, I uploaded the files you've asked, but unfortunately the button "Submit the case" is not clickable.

Is there an email address to which I can send the files?

    Thanks

    Just had the same problem

Can anyone advise on the fix for this?

Downloaded game today & got same message as Rogere75.

Managed to get onto a live chat with Ubi-agent & was told to reinstall the game which took 2 minutes, by the time it was done the Ubi-agent had disappeared. I see what appears to be an open support ticket on my profile but as what seems to be a familiar theme no option to reinitiate live chat, leave a message etc.

I dont find any solve in this thread so I guess this was resolved directly with Rogere75? Am operating as admin although I use Windows 10. I went through the Registry Editor as explained however the only files found in the '1' folder were (Default) & AppPath, no 'CDDrive'.

(Default) had a blank editable string & I changed 'Value Data' to C: but it made no difference.

    UPDATE: Issue resolved

If there is no string value 'CDDrive' right click, select 'new' & select 'string value'.
There you will be able to create string value 'CDDrive' with data value 'C:'
    Thanks Ubisoft
