Its a follow up to my previous thread about hypercars aero. There are a lot of hypercars (and a few SR too) with active aerodynamics in this game. And most of them dont work right.
In this list Im not going to mention hard to see elements (like flaps behind front splitter or adjustable ride height) that arent animated on cars in game because I think its ok to not have things that can only be noticed in photo mode. Im also going to omit concept cars.
Bugatti Chiron - overall has a good implementation but its rear wing lacks high speed mode in the game, After aprox 240kmh it should be lowered a bit
Bugatti Veyron - same as Chiron, has only 3 modes (completely lowered, high drag when > 120kmh and air brake when braking), should get 4th mode (wing is tilted more horizontally) when above 240kmh
McLaren F1 - totally wrong, in the game it deploys air brake after 120kmh. this should only happen when braking, otherwise air brake should not be raised at any speed.
McLaren P1 - in game has only 2 wing modes - down and hign drag when >120kmh. Should also get high speed (DSR) mode when >240kmh (wing is tilted more horizontally) and air brake (when braking, wing is tilted vertically) modes
McLaren 12C - should raise its wing much sooner (aprox at >80kmh) but should also lower it back when >150kmh (in the game it doesnt ever lower its wing at high speed)
Ferrari Enzo - just like McLaren 12C it should lower its wing back at high speed, wing should only be raised at moderate speeds, but in the game its always up when >120kmh
Ferrari 458 and F12tdf - same issue with both cars, rear diffuser flaps positions are reversed, for some reason they go down when braking in game. This isnt how it is supposed to work, lowering flaps stalls rear diffuser, lowers drag and downforce, thats the opposite of what you want while braking. Flaps should be down when >150kmh and up when below this speed or when braking
Koeningsegg One:1 - tilts wing into high drag mode (rear up) when >250kmh and remains that way, should do this sooner (when aprox >120kmh) and after reaching 250 should tilt wing in opposite way to low drag mode (wings rear is slightly below wings front).
Porsche 918 - raises its wing when >120kmh like it should. But it also should tilt it more horizontally after reaching 240kmh, and it doesnt in the game.
May add more if I remember other mistakes.
Update on Jesko and Ford GT 2017
Jesko with its stock wing behaves pretty much like Chiron, it properly goes into handling mode at 120kmh and deploys air brake when braking.
But with both custom wings (even the one thats just a recolor) Jesko deploys air brake right after going into handling mode. So whenever you are speeding on a highway your car is also using its air brake. This is really stupid. I know its a custom wing, who cares bla-bla-bla, but why not add a 2 tons cocrete block as a custom rear bumper then?
Same exact thing happens with Ford GT 2017. Stock works like it should, But 1st custom wing (that looks like stock but naked carbon) goes into air brake position and constantly keeps it while >120kmh. Its not as massive as Jesko wings but still stupid and wrong.
The funniest thing, for me, is that a regular huayra has f&r wings working just as they should, while a (let's say) polyphony's baby gt-sport doesn't. LoL... Now i come to think that maybe, when compared to other winged cars (crew), it could actually be just a wrongly done programming... Since every idea regarding game, story and gameplay is a bit contradictory...
Same thng hapens with Ford GT 2017.
In fact MOST cars with active aero have some kind of oversight, lack of modes or clear mistakes in how they work
https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...hould-be-fixed
Reviving this thread since I noticed some of those problems were actually fixed.
Jesko and Ford GT 2017 - fixed, custom wings dont go into constant air brake mode (unleas brakes are actually used)
Ferrari Enzo - fixed, spoiler goes up and then down after gaining some speed.
Most other problems/oversights probably require new animation states and not very serious, but there are 2 particularly big mistakes that should also be easy to fix:
McLaren F1 - constantly uses air brake (a.k.a. default "wing") at >120kmh. This is not a wing or spoiler, on real car it doesnt go up just because F1 reached a certain speed. It only goes up when braking.
Ferrari 458 (both drift and hypercar versions) and F12tdf - diffuser (a.k.a. bottom part of "rear bumper") flaps positions are reversed. In game on those cars flaps go down when braking and stay up otherwise. In fact they should go down at high speed, and move back up at low speeds or when braking. Down position decreases drag, its exact opposite of what you want when braking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ywIoMxxtt0. Not sure why this mistake is even in the game, on Laferrari similar flaps work exactly like they should (the only difference is that those flaps stay down even at low speeds and on go up when braking, but thats also how it works IRL).
