    Moving On... Thanks Ubisoft

Hey all, including the regulars and folks at Ubisoft...

I started playing Wildlands in early 2018 and got a solid 2 years out of that game, logging well over 1000 hours of playtime. It will always be one of my fondest gaming experiences. The immersive rendering of Bolivia and the massive map and campaign, with realistic gear and guns, and a gritty and authentic spec ops experience are unmatched. It was wonderful. Ubisoft, thank you very much for making such a tremendous gaming experience.

I also invested a lot of hours in Breakpoint, but I honestly feel very unsatisfied by the experience. Breakpoint will stand out as one of the most disappointing game experiences I've ever had. Probably mostly due to the high expectations I had after Wildlands. I will still be playing coop with my friends once a week until they get tired of it, but that's all I will be investing in Breakpoint now. The game just lacks any reason to play. There's nothing to do and the Azreal and flyover mechanics actually make it punishing to play (not fun). Ubisoft, I really hope you get the ship steered in the right direction for the next title.

I'm now very excited about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 which is introducing some amazing tech in terms of using real world mapping data and AI to render the entire earth photo-realistically. It's stunning really. And with my real-world personal and work travel having been completely cut in recent months, this comes at a perfect time. Naturally, I'm planning an immersive "play-through" where I will be travelling around the world to see everything I can of interest from the air. One area I most look forward to exploring is Bolivia.

One thing I've noticed now since I started following MSFS, is what a difference community engagement can make. The developers (Asobo studios and MS) are doing regular webcast Q/A sessions, interviews with YT content creators, and just being very accessible. Of course the game/sim is not perfect, and there's still lots of work to do on the eve of it's release, but it's refreshing to have deep insights into priorities and roadmaps and even how the underlying mechanics are built and design goals. Ubisoft, you really should take a look around at what other studios are doing.

Anyway, going forward I will still check back in here from time to time to see how things are going, and enjoy the good laughs that are to be had here (at the expense of monitor cleaning). LOL. I really enjoy the community and the regular cast of characters... a special thanks to you all for making these last several months entertaining. Hopefully the studio comes up with some compelling content for this game that actually gets people playing again. Let's hope!

    Cheers,
    -Chris.

Kick the tires and light the fires

I can really relate to that.

I hear ya. Life is too short to spend trying to grind some fun out of a game the studio can't be bothered to communicate on. I think a lot of us are hitting this point of just feeling the studio really doesn't care for our input, isn't interested in establishing a dialogue and is way too immersed in a toxic cesspool of bad internal relationships.

I'll continue to tinker with the game but they have done so many things to undermine the playstyle I am interested in that I have no interest in continuing content creation. It is depressing to know that Ubi has every thing at their fingertips to make a blowout game and is just oblivious as to what to do with that despite a ton of input.

In the meantime I'll tinker with woodwork. The latest creation - we went to a Tapas restaurant in Napa and they served Pinchos. Basically skewered appetizers but what was especially cool was they served them on a board with the skewers stuck in holes. I decided I could make that, my spouse loves doing appetizers.

Screw the gaming companies that want to take my money and deliver inferior products. I have other interests.

The forum on the other hand, this place rocks. A good dose of humor everyday.

Chris, your input and insights have always been fascinating and on point. Your ideas are always brilliant and well thought out. But above all that, it’s just good to talk to you. Hope you’ll stay in touch no matter what happens with this train wreck of a game.

It will be a shame to not have you here regularly but do make sure to pop in every now and again to see everyone, still fed up and frustrated lol.

Completely relate to it as well, I am done with the game too with all that's wrong with it and the studio upping the flyover and just refusing to lower it until they find a better system just goes to show that they really are not bothered at all by what we think and how we feel about the situation in game. I've had a have a some days away from here because the mood I was in I would have just gotten myself banned and they and it are just not worth the headache it creates. I understand we still have a pandemic going on but the studio have made no attempt to improve communication and I don't see it getting better nor the game ever getting to the state that we all hope that it will.

All the best Chris, take care bud.

    Not what their TD says:

Thank you for being such a dedicated player !
The thing here was of course that I eventually solved my problem myself because their TD follows a script that essentially says "disable, this, disable that, update this, update that, it can't possibly be our game that's the problem even if that's the only thing that got updated. And that even if before the update there wasn't a problem, but since the update there is, it still is something with your system, not with the game.

And it doesn't help that from the start of my ticket to the end I was 'helped' by 7 different people, all of whom didn't apparently read what I tried already but just said 'you should do this'. So when I told one I wouldn't do that (disable RGB on the motherboard, GPU, water pump, all fans, keyboard and mouse ... really ) another came back and said they wouldn't help me any further then.

It cannot be their game that's broken! It's your system!

I quit playing on the 23rd-------and then; just to entice me back in; Ubi removed the resistance; one of the few good things to happen to GRB in quite a while (I understand "why" they removed them---but the bottom line is they're still gone, and the immersion and fun that came with them--------------went with them). I'm keeping an eye out to see what future updates (if any) bring.

Have fun with your flight sim and whatever else you're doing! Really appreciated all the time and effort you've put into the forum and game!

PS: Feel free to call for bail if the need arises!

PPS: Didn't say I'd give you any----------------------just that you can call.
