I play on Xbox. Console has always been tough to play this game, between the framerate lag and latency, but it was manageable. I've been here since day 1. I have over 200 reps total. Kensei was my first love. Rep 70. My other favorites are Lawbringer, Hitokiri, and Jorm. But I just can't continue. I keep telling myself it isn't that bad, but every time I get on, I can only make it through a couple games before quitting out of frustration. The game is not smooth. It's a choppy light-spam fest, where I have to get lucky and guess correctly to get a parry. Then even after getting a light parry which seems almost impossible, I'm awarded little to no damage. I have to sit through Warmonger throwing light after light int her bash mixup until she's out of stamina before I can attack. Other characters through out random heavies that seem to come in at 500ms or less. There's nothing fluid about the game anymore. Dominion is a huge sh*t show now. Even moreso than before. I just don't get it. Console HAS to be the majority of the player base on this game. We love playing the game on console because it's easy, convenient, and afforable.
After 3 and a half long years, I'm hanging it up. There's no longer skill involved, it's just a race to spam more lights and bashes.You nerf ever character into the ground unnecessarily instead of balancing the game. Jormungandr, Hitokiri, Lawbringer now...who I recently fell in love with. I just don't get it. For Honor was starting to get to a really good place and then this update comes out. I guess it's finally time to find a new game. No more purchases from me for this game. I'm out.
Why do you think they added a pay to win character? Why do you think they're shifting the game from reaction based to guessing/prediction? They can't react like the pros can so they'd rather turn the game into a Rock, Paper, Scissors and spam fest. They want to mash buttons mindlessly and win.
Just look at the first round of this video and it will show you everything that's wrong with the new update.
Yep this core update completely ruined console gameplay. You have to guess where the light is going to come from with a lag input and another one if you are playing any 4v4 game play. So characters that have no heavies in their combos are now immortal. Orochi, Kensai all those cancer characters. However then they made characters who are spam gods Highlander, Valkyrie, Black Prior, and what do they all have in common? Crushing counter blow on all directions from lights.
Not to mention that teammates can now interrupt your fighting. Time and time again I have gotten killed because I am about to wall splat an enemy or throw them to a ground and a teammate comes out of nowhere and hits me in the back while the enemy recovers, gets revenge and kills us both.
In conclusion I am thoroughly convinced that not a single dev plays this POS. If they did and had any pride in making this game they would know these issues.
The heroes are not to blame for their speed on light attacks because if you go see their speed in milliseconds of light attacks you will find that they are all average at 500 ms.
500 ms is the norm of a light attack in this game, if you don't believe it I leave you the spreadsheet of all the heroes so you can go check yourself and make your comparisons (it's not my job, I don't take credit for it).

You should blame the CCU for this mess, which as a result, for all fight moves, the first 100ms of animation and user interface are consistently skipped over the network (whether delayed or buffered)
Ubisof instead of removing animation frames should add them to make the movement of the attacks smoother.
