    Feelings on the August 6th patch update: New meta of offense at a semi-casual level

    Editors note: this is really long. Sorry about that but I had alot to say!

    When I first watched the warrior's den livestream, I was super excited for the CCU's potential to change the light attack meta into a more mixed attacking meta, where heavies aren't as punishing to you and where all enabled options had some relevant use. However, many things turned out worse than I expected. With that said, I don't want to be too negative but here are some changes I want to talk about. I'll start with in general and go character specific following that.
    HEAVY ATTACKS:
    Where to start with this one? The balance of the heavy hitting moves was baffling. Why was Shugoki doing less with heavy attacks than centurion? Why is a heavy punish oriented character like lawbringer so weak? I read the new patch coming on the 13th, and I'm glad the ridiculous numbers like warden and centurion are being fixed, but why do you continue to need shugoki and lawbreakers damage? The heavy damage is what makes those characters work, as they traded poor neutral in exchange for some heavy hits (for the most part). Please keep this in mind as you re balance your "heavy hitter" and "disabler" style heroes.
    LIGHT ATTACKS:
    The stamina drain change had the right intention, it was just executed poorly. Most of the comments I would have were the ridiculus cost of stamina of peacekeeper and shaolin light combos, but that was addressed. The issue is that the new lag change makes some lights very difficult to react to even after you got hit by a light, and it seems like light hit disadvantage isn't there, and I continued to get lights lightspammed but with a new coat of paint on it. Please look into how to make lights viable, but not unreactable and not fun.
    BASHES
    Not gonna beat around the bush here, these are still very OP, especially in a gank situation. I've been in an inescapable combo to death by a highlander and a centurion and its frustrating to say the least.


    Character Specifics

    If characters aren't mentioned, I had nothing worthwhile to say. Others may have comments, but I can't think of anything notable.


    Warmonger
    The character herself is alright, and I think has some interesting moves to bring to battle. However, her feats should have never made it past testing in the state they are in. Breach becomes trivial at the ram if anyone contests you, or if you are contested at the minion lane in dominion. Even in death match situations and modes, the corruption can make you die so quickly its frustrating, especially with the new players who just began playing to be insta-killed by the OP new character. It makes the game look play to win, and that tends to scare new purchases away.

    Lawbringer:
    Lawbringer's damage was needed into the ground. Its one thing to balance a hero but he just feels really bad now. No armor on shove makes any neutral he did have feel weak, and now his phenomenal punish is just mediocre. I am a large proprietor of the idea that certain moves (like law's shove) should have "light hyper armor". It prevents a light from interupting the shove, but rewards a reaction shove if the attacker went with a heavy attack, which can interrupt shove and start a chain for the attacker. This kind of change can be applied elsewhere but this was a good starting point. Also, please don't destroy his heavy finisher damage. Make them worth throwing out.

    Conqueror

    Please give his uncharted heavies a use. He is lightspam the character as his heavies in chain are useless. All guard heavy is the only way to land a heavy outside of guard break. Maybe give him a mid chain charge tech? Would provide a helpful mixup and a use to his heavies. (To balance, these heavies would have more dodge window than uncharged)

    Centurion
    Please nerf his punches stamina drain and gank potential. Super annoying in dominion and breach to be insta killed by two cents mixing up Haymarket timings

    Highlander
    Unreachable lights are not cool, and makes playing highlander scary as you may die in 4 hits. Fair balance for a heavy hitter, but his neutral is too strong with those fast lights.

    Valkyrie
    Please fix her attacks. They are so weak, slow, and sad.

    Kensei
    The all unblockable feat needs a serious active time penalty. With revenge, and unblockable Kensei is nigh unstoppable.

    Shugoki
    This one hurts me. I would have blessed the changes made in the August 6th patch. Faster uncharged heavy chain provides shugoki with pressure and options he didn't have before. That standardization of his heavy damage was super nice, and the chain hits doing more as a finisher was a nice touch to weaken his gank potential. Then, I read the august 13 patch notes and wanted to throw my phone. Why? Why do they insist on taking a character with one strength (being hit really hard) and make him average amount some of the heavy hitters? Why was hitokiri left untouched? Shugoki needs a reason to be picked over other heavies, and on the 13th, he won't have one. Give the august 6th damage numbers back to shugoki. Give him a reason to be in the game. He has consistently been the lowest on ubisoft's official tier lists and is still getting nerfed. Why? Please explain this to me if you read this ubisoft. Out of all of these changes, this one baffles me.

    Aromusha (spelling? Sorry lol)

    Why are his heavys so slow? Incentive needs to be given to heavies, not lights remember?

    Why does choke drain souch stamina? Look into balance of that move

    Closing Statements
    I would love to hear feedback from fellow community members and ubisoft staff. I have many characters ( like the wu lin and orochi) that I haven't seen much of since the patch and don't want to make false comments about them, so feel free to talk about characters I didn't mention. If you agree or disagree let me know and I hope it was worth the read!

    You may add Yormungandr. He just can't drain enemy's stamina)
    His bashes take away a small portion of stamina. And put somebody OOS is almost impossible.

    I've never even posted on the forums before, but this patch disgusts me. On a good match, I feel like I'm slowly waving around foam weapons; on a bad match, I just get killed twenty times by groups of warmongers. Balance aside, combat in this game used to just be satisfying even when the balance was off. Not even getting that feeling anymore, and I was on August 5. Now so many attacks are just so slow to throw, and for the attacks against me? Alternating between weird framerates that make it unintuitive to play, or slow-as-molasses attacks that for some reason still hit. Only warmonger seems unaffected, and her feats take all the fun out of 4v4s.

    Played this consistently since release, but it's been miserable the last three days. Going to finish unlocking the 35 tiers of rewards I paid for and then leave until a better patch fixes this, if that even happens.

    Are you serious? First, please stop balancing pc alongside console! It’s idiotic because it’s not the same. The damage values are a joke, turning it into a read based game was good in theory but guess what? You wanted to address light spam but guess what? You found a way to make it worse! You had the testing ground to see how people would respond to the feedback, them you ignored the feedback changed things that shouldn’t have been changed that in the end didn’t support the feedback in the first place. Do your devs not play this game at all? I’ll tell you it sure doesn’t seem like it. I played this game since it’s release and have loved it till today, I’m done with for honor until this janky garbage is fixed and if you don’t listen to your community then I’m done with the games you make period. You don’t know what’s best, so listen to the people that play your games for once. They know what they want. I feel what needs to be addressed is already being talked about all over YouTube, these forums, on reddit, everywhere. Just listen, and make changes that are healthy for this game and not this garbage, for Christ sake

    Couldn't agree more. This last patch has entirely ruined the game for me. Xbox one player here since release, and this patch is the worst thing I've ever seen. I don't know if I'll keep playing unless something is done.
