The Shinobi is one of my favorite characters in the game despite being alittle underpowered in my opinion.
So first off, the Shinobi lacks the ability to do any effective mix ups. While you can do feints most are too obvious due to the attack animations of Shinobi’s heavy attacks. I like to do the Shinobi’s zone attack and feint the last strike to either a light attack or a grab, as this has proven to be most effective. So in short Shinobi’s mix ups are too limited.
Secondly the shin’s ranged attacks at higher levels of play are more of a liability. I usually avoid using the ranged attacks because they’re easily parried and you get downed and punished afterword. It’s only after landing the shin’s unblockable kick do you get to throw in a free ranged attack Hit. So Basically it would be cool to see the Shinobi’s long range sickle attacks become more viable In the future, either by increasing the attack speed of the ranged attack or by allowing the ranged attacks to be mixed up quickly. If that makes any sense.
And thirdly, the Shinobi needs a better dodge attack. The current dodge attack is either an unblockable kick or a light attack. The problem with them is both dodge attacks begin alittle too late, or slowly. Often times I get hit by a follow up attack before my dodge attack lands. Where as characters like the orochi or the shaman are able to land their dodge attacks more effectively as their attacks happen more quickly. So if you can speed up atleast the Shinobi’s light dodge attack it would be great.

I'm glad that I am not the only one who thinks shinobi should have a dashing light attack as well.
One of the reasons I slowed down on shinobi and started playing shaolin is because there are more options. Shinobi will always be in my top three heroes for sure, but I just wish they would give shinobi mains at least hyper armour back on the roll after a ranged heavy. That would literally be the only necessary move, although it would have been nice if sickle rain still had hyper armour.
In addition to a side dodge light, I think that the option to be able to do a single dodge into an unblockable kick would be fair because of the way they removed quad dashing. As of the current, I feel like shinobi's unblockable kick only out of double dash is too predictable and I use it only if I'm actually dodging an attack.
I think that if the devs are able to give a hero like shaolin so many options, they should at least let shinobi do a light into heavy combo or at least a 3-hit chain. I really want to be able to play shinobi again, but it really feels like I have to rely on the snowball emote too much at times...
I'm definitely on board with you on this one for some sort of shinobi rework.
