I disagree with this being a good direction of the game because ultimately this was the biggest spit in the face from Ubisoft in awhile. Asking the community for their opinions so they can outright ignore them and do whatever they want anyways.
Meh. I like it. I can see where they wanna go and theres still work to be done but its a good start. They messed up a few numbers but those can be easily changed. We already have some number tweaks coming next week. Just wait.

Well I played, and I liked.

    Light spam is effectively destroyed.

I never go OOS cuz enemies can't force me OOS anymore, and stam management has always been easy for me.

The damage numbers encourage heavy attacks and I am now getting way more executions.

Yes, more changes are required, such as WM broken feats, but ultimately, the direction the game is going is very good.

    Just wait for more updates.
You are delusional.. I can light spam people even more and easier after the update.
    I play Orochi since beta.
The only difference is that I need to make light spam a bit shorter and backstep to gain some stamina... then repeat.
Now it's lightspam vs lightspam... you need to lightspam more than opponent and backstep 2 or 3 times to win.
This also discourages You from any mixups as **** now gets canceled with enemy teleporting lightspam even more.
You still can parry or block lightspam.. though it's way more difficult than before, just because of no telegraphing part.
Also now blocking or parrying lights is not worth it.. as you can lightspam urself and cancel opponent lightspam.
Trying to guess opponents lightspam direction is simply not worth it, if You can stop his light attack with Yours.
No telegraph = no fair reaction = guessing = luck = no skill.
IDK why people say light spam was an issue.. I was playing vs orochis alot and never had any problem with blocking or parrying lights.. even deflects worked from time to time.
Just turn off Your V-synch in options and ur good to go.
Buy new PC, have above 90 FPS and ur good to go.
BTW.. I use keyboard to change my guard and it was always quick enough.
People please start to skill up Your reaction times and tune ur settings/hardware.. instead of forcing the devs to make this game based on luck.
Skill up reaction time or just quit and play Mortal Kombat.

I just want to point out quite interesting fact.
The account that started this thread was created at 08-06-2020. For a player who says that has 2 years of experience in game the things that are written by the player are quite... strange and show no real understanding of how the game works, should work and what are the game's problem. Also, if this player says that he/she had problems with some mechanics in game... how come never decided to post his feedback before, but randomly decided to praise the most hated patch since the game release?

More so, this opening post is nearly, if not entirely, a copy of a reply this user made in thread started by Ubisoft itself.

Now im not pointing any fingers... but i've seen too much shady practices in the business and the world around me to believe this is just a coincidence, untill proven wrong.
