This has probably been said before, but hear me out: Steam has a great built in controller support. I have a Switch Pro controller that i prefer to use with my computer and i can use it without a single problem through steam. With Trackmania through the Epic Store i have to use a third party software and so far i have found a single one that works and it costs money. I was so hyped for this game and played it a bit on launch but being unable to use my controller without purchasing additional software is a huge bummer.
Here's how you can use the Switch Pro controller without extra stuff.
1. On Steam, go to your library
2. Click the Plus sign that has "Add new game" next to it
3. Click "Add non-steam game"
4. Browse to your Trackmania.exe and add selected programs
5. Launch game through Steam, you should now be able to use the Switch Pro controller
I use all the game stores, but will probably never buy another game on Uplay because the experience is just so uncomfortable, the UI is very strange and buggy making it difficult to actually play with friends (just my opinion, no hard feelings if you like Uplay)
I really hope it comes to Steam, but more than that I'm sad that they've gone with a Subscription model instead of just selling the game.
Kind regards
TM, TM Nations, United Forever player
I've been mostly on steam and found out about the game's existence on youtube half a year later.
So yea, A lot of people are probably missing it, especially with TM² being on steam and all that.
But I honestly doubt it will be on steam, they probably have some sorta contract with epic and are bound to a single platform.
uPlay was a mess, I was so annoyed when I played R6 siege and Steep about having to log in every time.
And yes the subscription model sucks, Imagine I would have paid 450 bucks for 15 years of TMUF...The worst thing is that the WR ghosts in TM2020 are also hidden behind a paywall.
Not everyone is maining a single game like a machine, there are people who like to play many different games, and if each one of them wanted a yearly subscription I'd be poor af.
Yes, the game really needs to be on Steam, that is what made TMNF so damn popular! By far the most popular game in the TM series, everyone remembers it, and TM2020 could have the same situation, but they do not do it for some reason, likely because of the subscription model I think might conflict with Steam's terms and conditions.. maybe a cut in profits somehow.
TM2020 also needs to be on console, this would be INSANELY popular, F2P games are now easily obtainable on consoles unlike in TMNF's day (no online stores on console), would bring alot of newcomers to the scene and they can compete evenly with PC players on crossplay unlike other games such as FPS.
I think there is no reason for this game to not be on current gen consoles, it needs to happen!
