I vaguely recall some of the larger bases having remarkably few Unidad soldiers. A couple round of sync shots and it would be clear. But I’m not sure where that was.
But I guess the problem as you point out, is that it might get a bit annoying as every time I return, it will need to be cleared again.
The Barvechos airport is another choice as it only has two SB guys at the gate. But I’ve used that before. Trying to think of something different.
You can "borrow" a helicopter from F.O.B. Tucan in Villa Verde very easily, without alerts/suspicion. Koani has an empty airstrip, although not Unidad (it was used in "Boston Reed" mission).Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
- Monte Puncu has an abandoned combat outpost (train goes through it).
- combat outpost in Flor de Oro (side entrance to M.O.B. Jaguar). It has a gunship, heavy helicopter, 2 watch towers with snipers, 2 heavies and at least 6 soldiers
- combat outpost in Caimanes is the same location from guerrilla mode. Barely any opposition, helipad, bunch of ground vehicles including APC and gunboat
- combat outpost in Libertad (oversees the gas field). ~10 units too. No helipad, just a bunch of ground vehicles, including APC. Drone jammer at the gas field can be a bit of a buzzkill though.
I would like a base that would fit with “American forces working in coordination with Bolivian forces”Originally Posted by venomgun1 Go to original post
Are you familiar with the Unidad combat outpost near Koani Charlie?
Otherwise the base you suggest in Caimanes might work.
I’m thinking of having the local Bolivian military “hosting” a DEVGRU team. So it would be fitting that they start and end their missions from an Unidad base. It would be ideal if Unidad hostility could be turned “off” for my playthrough.Originally Posted by FCacGRdvWD Go to original post
I spent some time this evening looking at Unidad bases around Remanzo.
The one by Koani Charlie is a great base from a facilities perspective, but it has a respawning SAM that makes it a non starter.
The large base in Remanzo is good but has a lot of guys to clear. It’s probably the biggest base in the West without a SAM site making it a great choice. It’s also close to a Fast Travel location.
The Outpost in Remanzo is good as it only has 5 guys which can all be quickly dealt with and is fairly central, but it’s just too small to feel authentic as a FoB.
The FoB Armadillo in Itacua may ultimately be the best one from a central location perspective. I haven’t cleared it recently, but I’m guessing there are three snipers and half a dozen guys on the ground which isn’t too bad. It’s probably three sync shot cycles to clear.
On the east side, I expect Venom... your recommendation in Caimanes would be best. It’s a large base and if it’s not heavily populated and has no SAM, that’s perfect
