You severely overestimate the average level of intelligence of individuals. All the pieces literally pointed to this person being Apollyon in everything but name.
So yeah she's not going to have a male option. But people will scramble for whatever they can to justify how they're feeling. Just plain human behavior.

Interestingly, nobody really complained cent is genderlocked, and people were fine with shaman being a stronger copy of pk (including animations). By the way, you are not forced to buy this hero or anything- you were not forced to buy any dlc heroes. Don't play it if you don't like it.

Because the pretend issue of gender locking only exists for neckbeards. No one is going to complain if a more socially accepted version of an attractive female is added as an option. But if forced to play female only they feel emasculated since their view on Women is dated as all hell. It's quite one thing to prefer playing as a specific gender. it's quite another to create a problem out of it like the complainers are doing.

The game doesn't even overly represent female locked heros. There are more male locked ones. So it's not like anyone can claim Ubi is baised to one specific gender or is pushing some sort of political agenda. It is literally just what it is.

Her lore literally states she was to pick up Apollyon's mantle. APPOLLYON'S. The character even has her armor. It's not Apollyon herself because she died. She literally caused chaos for these people. Do you really think if it was just some dude in some armor starting a fight that it would have the same effect on these people as Someone showing up looking and pretending to be like Apollyon? Hell no.

The vision Astrea got wasn't "yo go cause war and stuff" It was "Yo become Apollyon." And that literally cannot happen with a male character.

I already explained myself elsewhere with why she's only a female Lore wise. Im not repeating myself again.
