If you're not a character with no way to open from neutral and your opponent has godlike parry timing, what keeps them from just waiting for stuff to happen? This is the biggest grip i have with this game, after coming back to this game after so long i notice everyone is just godlike at parrying, and if i use anything that doesn't have a neutral bash to force a mix up reaction there's nothing i can do because my opponent will not react to feints and they will react at the very last millisecond of an unblockable for a perfect parry.
Even if it isn't parrying, it's blocking in team modes and using dodge attack at the very last frame of an attack and not reacting to anything else, i feel completely unable/scared to do anything knowing that my opponent has all venues covered and it makes me not want to get back into this game.
Am i doing something wrong?
You basically described what is wrong with the game to a tee. It was flawed from the ground up after people figured out the mechanics and what could be abused. Unless Ubi makes some major mechanics changes this is the way the game will be until it dies. If you want to try and have fun, give it a go, it won't be fun unless you have fun waiting for people to attack and turtling all the time just to beat someone thats dedicated to winning. Mind games will only bring you so far because now the safest thing to do in the game is just wait, react, and counter.
The rare thing would be to find someone who does not, now no one launches an attack if it is not guaranteed after some bash. Ubisoft, on the other hand, made up for the game with these bash, and to those who didn't have it, it was given after the rework, now we have arrived at the fake bash phase. An advice? Use light or heavy only if you hit with a bash otherwise wait to react.
Oh and forget deflect obviously, the only hit you can react will be an unblockable.
Oh my god I feel this in my soul.
This game used to be about skill, before everyone discovered how OP standing still is.
So many broken mechanics and so many people who are so obsessed with hearing "victory" that they will play as cheap as they possibly can.
3 days til the core combat update and FINALLY the game is moving in a smart, healthy direction. **** light spammers, and **** the parry baiting stand stills.
I never noticed that people just wait and bait for parries to force the opponent OOS. Its incredibly cheap. Get good at baiting and parrying and you get automatic wins. YAY!!
I seriously can't wait to encounter noobs who did nothing before but BS, only to completely and utterly destroy them, leaving them wondering why they suddenly aren't winning against people way higher level than them.
"I was beating people 10 times my level before, all the time!! Now they ALL beat me!!"
Oh so you mean... how it should be? Up until now, rep supposedly hasn't mattered. Normally, if you spend enough time doing something, you get more experience. Now, obviously some people will just be naturally better at the game, but I think it's ridiculous that I am a diamond player, supposedly top 4% on Xbox, yet fresh players can crush me, so long as they watch one or two youtube videos on how to be cheap beforehand.
im not sure man, light spam will only get stronger speed wise, sure you can counter it by throwing a light yourself but then it's a light attack fest based on a card game mechanic with turnsOriginally Posted by MrBdur Go to original post
as for the parry baiting, they are not noobs, you are the noob indeed, if they are standing still and waiting for you light (i suppose) throw a heavy, i always do that to sweaty players and it always catches them.
about the part where you utterly destroy them, im not so sure, you might be this for honor god but they'll still be in good shape ready to counter you even after the update
and utterly destroying them i'd imagine you'd spam them back right, or how will it work if mixups and everything else didn't work.
I have a good example, for honor nowadays is pretty harsh for new players but i somehow convinced two of my friend to play, they are not smurfs nor some god tier players, yet they still get called smurfs and hackers, why ?
well i made sure that every person i became friends with that is in this beginning stage doesn't have to go through what i did, those long farms against cheap players that think they are the **** tryna parrying every attack and light spamming are solved by them first playing against me, with bots and in anti-gank scenarios to train them up, slowly explaining mix ups and everything else.
I have a overall rep 26 friend who plays alot but when he first went into a real duel he demolished those cheeky players wanting to get easy wins, and he still does
now i wouldn't say he is gifted naturally to react fast but by taking my time and helping them understand the basics and a few more (which the game poorly does) he is now a "smurfer"
You know, I only ever see you being rude in the forums. I am excited for the update because they are making healthy changes. You clearly dont understand the changes coming.Originally Posted by Okt0g00N Go to original post
Light attacks will not be faster. They will indeed be mostly slower, with better recovery to being hit by lights. The reason you think it will be faster is because of the 100ms hidden indicator and animation. If you think its gonna make the game harder for me, think again. In the TG I was parrying 70% of the light attacks thrown at me lmaoooooo.
Spam is being pretty much erased. Did you not get the memo? No I am not just going to "spam back". I like using full kits, and getting executions, and actually playing well.
Also, I never said everything I do gets parried, nor did I say I'm being light parry baited, specifically. You are making assumptions, putting words in my mouth, and you sound like a straight POS.
That is all.
I assumed you are right, but by how you phrased it you sounded like you were getting parried every time they were standing still.Originally Posted by MrBdur Go to original post
Lights will appear delayed, they seem faster because they skip frames, please look at how delaying works and how latency has an impact on it.
I did not get the memo, because you didn't describe shet, you threw some insults and said that you are gonna destroy them, so how could i know.
Oh so i don't understand the changes ? are you crazy they'll have a somewhat big impact, not for me really, because players only throw out guaranteed attacks and waste 50% of their stamina to get 1 light, but that's besides the point.
Rude, i have been rude in 1 other post... and that's on a really pointless post, if that guy were to think about some solutions he would've came across "arcade" but whatever
Also the "i parried 70% of lights lmaooooo" really ? it's cool but i don't remember asking, plus on the tg people were more susceptible due to the changes and mostly threw lights to see how it would impact their game, and by you parrying so many really makes me think you were the one waiting for a light to parry and weren't doing some fancy mixups that feint into perfect parries
Dude. The changes have been public knowledge for quite some time. Saying you didn't know because i didn't say, shows your ignorance.
You mention stamina problems, but if you weren't so ignorant, you'd know stamina is also being changed.
You should go search the core combat update on youtube. Theres a 4 minute video that will clear your confusion.
Good day.
Im confused, what ? ignorant ? are you that delusional, i haven't stated those as bad and should be changed, also you are accusing me of not knowing ? i haven't stated i didn't know i just stated that they wont impact MY GAME not yours, i am playing at the rank of masters or even higher, 2 seasons ago when i was arguably trash i hit like diamond 3-4 and i could've pushed for masters.Originally Posted by MrBdur Go to original post
so stop "putting words in my mouth" and understand what i am saying, you completely missed my points and are ignorant yourself...
get over yourself and pay attention to what i wrote instead of throwing out some nonsense
Have a good day![]()
