[BUG] Keener kills you after you defeat him(story mode)...and some feedback. (RIP HC)
I lost my hardcore character some weeks ago and when I contacted support to report the bug (didn't expect character rollback as I already got all HC acheivements) they wanted a recording showing what happened. Well, I started another hardcore character but then made the decision to stop hardcore due to current state of the game (Amount of incoming NPC damage). I deleted the HC character and started a normal agent this week. When I got to Keener, the exact same mechanic happened... I really feel that Keener shouldn't lock you in place and kill you after you defeat him, because then how will you ever be able to progress through the mission on Hardcore Story mode safely.
The bleed from Keeners hive, while not being able to move or react, can easily kill your character before your hive is able to get you back up, in HC that is a no no. Before the recent changes to skills (Skill Health/Reduced Damage to skills) that bleed from Keeners hive would one shot your revive hive as well as your character. This is story mode, easiest game mode, and this mechanic can easily cause a group wipe after keener is defeated. When I contacted support they asked me ""do you have a recording" and to "retest it", luckily I didn't try this again on hardcore. I didn't have a recording at the time due to Ge-force Experience not being set up correctly after a re-install.
While I agree that taking the time to invest in more armour, hazard protection etc could maybe prevent this from happening, it still doesn't change the fact that this is the easiest game mode and also it happens after Keener is defeated which is a poor game play mechanic.
If hardcore mode is ever going to work, this is one of the problems that needs to be addressed, along with still existing massive amounts of incoming burst damage from Snipers, Sniper dogs, certain archetypes STILL doing insane damage with SMGs and Shotguns, and most off all armour actually being more viable to invest into. 2.1 mil armour means nothing when you have 1,4 mil odd burst damage incoming in certain situations.

After WONY was launched some time ago, I made a post about NPC spongyness NOT being the problem, rather incoming damage being the problem. Players were complaining about spongyness on day 3 of launch when they didnt realise the existing items that could boost your damage insanely. Meanwhile I was doing LVL 4 control points on day 3 of WONY simply (and luckily) because I made the choice to try out rifles on launch (all hail M1A :P). Seems like due to community pressure the devs have spent alot of time into adjusting NPC spongyness, while not a addressing what I feel is the real problem, that build diversity is hindered by the crazy amounts of incoming burst damage. While I appreciate many of the new changes and continue to have fun in this game, this still needs to be addressed.
Would really appreciate some input from UBI here. Also would like to say thanks for more recent patches, the game is really in a far better state in my opinion.
