    Strange AI behaviour at map start

    Hi guys
    The NPCs in my outpost map "Crow's Brewery" behave strange at map start. When I start playing the map in the editor all NPCs are in idle state. That's what I want. But when I play the published version in Arcade the NPCs are alerted and run around as if they had spotted the enemy right at the beginning. (But they did not see the player - they run into to opposite direction)

    There are no animals on the map. Does anyone have an idea how to avoid the NPCs alerted state st map start?

    Are you using the Defend Cautious control zone? I believe this automatically places enemies assigned to it in an alerted state.

    Thank you for your reply! No, I only have "move and defend", "defend" and Alarm, of course. My intention was to create a quiet scenery with idle AI, so I did not use "defend cautious" by intention.

    Surprisingly when playing in editor all AI are in idle state, only when I play in Arcade the NPCs ar running around. Furthermore they don't seem to be alerted only but they are chasing some imaginary subject as they leave they zones and sometimes throw grenades. But they don't target the player but a "ghost" at the other side of the map.

    Unlink all the AI's in the map from the Alarm ControlZones. That's probably what causes all of them to go into alert state.

    Hi Steve,
    thanks for your reply- I thought that some AI must be linked to the Alarm controi zone in order to activate an alarm. But I will try to assign all AI to "move and defend", "defend" and "defend cautious" zones

    Hi Steve,

    It works! I unlinked all alarm zones from the AI and created some extra zones ("defend" etc.) for the AI instead, Now it works. On map start all NPCs are in their normal state (idle or cautious, depending on assigned zone). Thank you!

    Addition: According to my experience even little changes in the placing of the AI can change their state at mission start. So when I once placed a car only a little bit closer to the AI (surrounding rectangles still more than 1m away) suddenly the AI started in alerted/cautious mode and began to run around instead of getting into the car. When I increased distance to the car a little bit again they started idle and entered the vehicle as they did before. So if you happen to have an AI in alerted/cautious mode (unless assigned to defend cautious zone of course) you might try to change it's position a little bit.
