You can not really compare the way this game treats its micro transactions to a mobile game, especially with the way it is implemented here as its not pay to win or, as in a lot of mobile games, pay to keep playing (apart from DLC) or unlock certain things quicker. You dont need any of the things you can spend money on here.
Of course there will always be the "whales" (in that game related money making speak) that will buy almost anything but I just dont think these strategiess apply here with as much weight as you are giving it.

I think the negatives would far outweigh the money making positives, in ths game.
I'm only comparing TD2 to mobile games (or any other modern games) as far as motives/reasons go. I'm fully aware that TD2 is way less aggressive in that regard as mobile games. But the idea and the mechanics behind it are the same.

I think the negative effects of the current (loot) mechanics are already bad enough, no need to make them worse ^^

Glad we seem to be roughly on the same page :-)

    Yea sorry.
There are so many people just looking for sinister reasons for the loot to be like it is when I feel its just not working as they fully intend for everyone, some seem to do fine no matter what the drop rate is while others still struggle no matter what they change.

And it does seem almost pointless to make the biggest complaint by the community even worse in an effort to get people to spend money on virtually nothing.

All this talk of sinister this sinister that, i don't think players think there is something dodgy going on....well maybe something right at the back of their mind because we live in a sinister world....but that is not at the forefront.

What players want to know is why is the loot system so sporadic.

TU8 started really well for 3-4 weeks then TU8.5 came out.

TU10.1 started really well for 1-2 days and has gone back to TU8.5 (in my experience)

I suppose all that can be done is to wait AGAIN for the next update TU11 and see how it goes, gotta feeling TU11 is going to make or break for them......or will it be TU11.1 because the update didn't go as planned....we will have to wait and see.

Maybe sinister is the wrong word then.
Underhand or deliberate might have been better choices.
Many have said they are doing it on purpose to somehow keep people playing, which is achieving exactly the opposite in my eyes.
If implying/assuming, whatever you want to call it, that they are dleiberately turning the tap off and on isnt "something dodgy" going on, then I dont know what is.

Seems the same for me, plenty of god rolled pieces drop, most useable too.

I only do CP's (solo) and the Raid currently so cant really comment on missions etc.

It's not so farfetched to suppose RNG is not working the way the devs are telling us.

Just look at the apparel caches: it states in game that each and every piece has the same exact chance of being found, yet everybody knows there are pieces, like the Aviator set, that have way, way higher chances to be found than anything else.

Playing Devils advocate, its also not so far fetched to suppose that the RNG is not working the way they intend it too for everyone. Just a little distinction, but one implies intent and the other does not.

I can also see a reason why they might want to have something like certain apparel items be rarer than others as that is one of the only ways they can actually make any extra money.
So making them seem more exclusive would appeal to the people that like to waste, sorry I mean, spend their money on such things

And there is no real reason to assume that apparel share the exact same RNG mechanics as general in game gear, as there seems less incentive (monetary or otherwise) for the devs to intentionally stop one player getting godrolls whist giving them to another.

This distinction between incompetence and malpractice does not change the outcome for the players.

I could say that it's illegal to do so. If you claim a certain chance to get an item when in reality that chance is not true, you are doing something illegal (in certain Countries where this game is published).

Never said they do, I just made it clear that there's already in game a place where we're lied to about RNG.

Or maybe, just maybe, we all have different expectations of what "good" means. Surprise!
I'm going to lean into this any time someone whines at me for pointing out holes in their arguments by doing this:

Yes, that's all within one DZ bag

That really proofs nothing and isn't an argument for anything except that you specifically were lucky.
