Bring back the TU7 gear mechanics.

I thought with the recent updates (from TU8) being shown to have effectively turned my agent feel like a schoolboy with a stick fighting a Goliath, it may be time to consider the "gear 2.0" at least an intellectually dishonest move if not a flat-out failure. By dishonesty I mean that to propose that stripping the amount of talents guns have (from 3 to 1) and from having every piece carrying up to 2 talents now down to 1/back or chest is at a minimum mathematically ******ed to equate to "more diversity". When you've more things to select from which work, versus less things to select and even less from the already narrow pool of options which are effective.

All of this is my view. I remember feeling powerful in TU7. The said power, lo and behold, made me feel like every step I take in the game was a fun one. Now...there's some fun to be had with the 4 piece Eclipse Protocol, but really not much else. I'm curious to resurrect such ideas from time to time (the return of gear 1.0) to see if people even remember their experience with it and if they do, do they remember it as fondly as I do.

    Please. Share your views, *****es!

You mean the "budget" system that didn't allow god rolls if gears had 2 rolls or more? half of the time game being just "stack damage to elite", not all brands being that good and being weird most of the time, negotiator being useless because the granade got nerfed due PVP abuse, talents forced certain amount of stats of a certain color to work ,everyone being Tank-healer- damage dealer?

Look i do love that shotguns were more viable, i do love old gunslinger holster being better to pistol builds than the current one and i did like having the odd talent here and there, such as opportunistic actually being an interesting option to have on gloves and so on. But don't sugar coat everything with nostalgia, you gotta remember that it was not perfect back then either it's better to elaborate what you want and you DON'T want

    my view...?
well i think the pendulum swung a little too far into the dev's gear 2.0...
the new foundation they put in is pretty good to me.. just ... we need a 3rd gear piece with a talent.. imo. And if that seems to not offer enough diversity still after sitting on that for a while.. possibly considering a 4th gear talent at that point... but one thing to test at a time is ideal.

I think they completely overlooked updating mods.. but we know some of that will be looked into for TU11.

Crafting station should offer fun projects to unlock unique crafting blueprints for unique gears and weapons not available anywhere else.. i know we have a few in there already.. but they are not very good.. so they could create more there...

Maybe it's time to even look at exotic gear mods.
There could be a lot of ideas.. but this is where the Community reps for this game could put out a survey or poll to gather such info.. and also clue us in on what the devs are possibly considering..

NO! TU7 made me quit playing, it was like playing Destiny. OHK'ing everything, because the NPC's are fragile and incompetent is boring and unrewarding. The super spongieness of heroic and legendary now is just as bad, don't get me wrong, but at least it makes you play better instead of just Rambo-ing everything.
Not to mention the loot and was even worse than we have had recently.
As frustrating as the game is now, it's miles better than TU7.
That being said, they could put another talent slot back onto weapons and another piece of gear.

I was actually having fun in TU7, if it were an option I would give up WoNY just to get the fun back.

Gear 2.0 has been a huge failure for me, I didn't care for the budget system, we could build actual power without full godrolls.
Now we don't have power even in full godroll.

Players have different opinions on the matter, which is why I wish it were an option so that those who like Gear 2.0 could still play it, while the others could go back to a more fun game.

half of the time game being just "stack damage to elite"
It's a looter, stacking affixes is the way to play this type of games.

    That may be true.
But although I had very little problem with the old pie system, I personally feel, it only got better when they stopped stacking being possible.
In PVE, everyone wanted DTE on every piece (or as near as damn it) which just killed build diversity and added to the RNG (if it didnt have DTE it was trash in many peoples eyes).
Of course you could have made builds without it, but due to the amount of elites, you were just weakening yourself, as you said - it is the way to play this type of games.
But that doesnt mean it was good for the game itself.

I think they rebalanced elites after stopping stacking and it certainly, for me at least, opened up more builds worth using.

Stacking was ridiculous in the early days, I had a build that had 80% or better explosives damage. All I did was creep up and grenade kill everything. It was fun, but not particularly challenging. If they would have left npc's at game release levels instead of nerfing them so much, Pre WoNY would have been better for it's lifecycle. The loot was so atrocious though.
TU7 was basically an arcade shooter with little to no reward for playing.

No clue what the op and anyone who agrees is talking about. Gear 2.0 has been brilliant for the game.

Much better than before and every update since has improved the game more and more each time.

The game's in the best place it's ever been in imo.

I've really warmed to Gear 2.0.

Focussing talents on just two gear pieces makes it much easier to reuse god rolled pieces of gear around the thematic nucleus formed by the chest piece and backpack.
