A discussion about zone attacks with automatic chains in For Honor
Conqueror• Peacekeeper• Centurion• Gladiator• Valkyrie• Highlander• Shaman• Kensei• Nobushi• Shinobi• Aramusha• Tiandi• Shaolin•
The thing is : "when the zone attack is used, if stamina cost causes an out of stamina state, the rest of the attack is performed and can not be cancelled". Of course if it happens, anybody can parry the attacks incoming easily and punish the opponent who did the ultimate mistake. Thanks to the oot unbalanced state.
So the question is : "why it's still there?" Or "Is it fair?"..
I mean, why are we so hard punished just because you used your zone with a little less stamina than your half gauge? Why other heroes (like Warden or Orochi) can use their zone with low stamina and being practically safe doing so ? In which way it is meant to be balanced like this? Because being able to feint a serial strikes zone should punish you for a bad use? Taking 85 dmg from Aramusha because you anticipated your stamina cost wrong is maybe a hard one don't you think?
▪︎The testing grounds are here, and Ubisoft is willing to change the Meta, into something more offensive, but without allowing spamming etc etc . I think in this optic, modify the zone attributes shall be very interesting and positive for this new era.
...
So here is my personnal proposition
Instead of forcing heroes to do their entire zone attack animation and forbid them to cancel it, we could make the opposite :
●When performing a zone attack, if it causes the lost of the rest of the stamina gauge and has chains in it, only the first part of the chain is performed.
Only the first hit would be used and then the heroe would just stop attacking and be in "out of stamina" state.
Like this, not only the player doing a zone will be safer as a lot of the cast heroes already are. But also, it would prevent any additionnal attack and damage by a heroe who is already oot. In group fight or against the minions or in some situations in 1vs1, you would just not attack anymore. And that makes sense! Why would you continue to attack like a robot when you shouldn't.
And finally my second proposition
●After using a zone attack which causes the lost of your entire stamina gauge, your stamina gauge will wait a few instant before starting to regenerate.
It means that now any heroes who abuses its zone, shall be vulnerable a little bit longer. It perfectly matches with the new aspect of fighting meta which encourages offense but without any abuse of fast attacks.
...
Anyway, I know it would include some adaptation and ajustement for certain characters, but it could definitely be a good idea to improve offense and reduce unfair frustration from the players and still being balanced.
What do you think ? ( Sorry for my bad english, hope you understood everything )
It's really not the same :
After all, the zone itself can not be feinted.
The case when you can, is with Raider or Nuxia etc
Here, it's about the chain attacks which are performed automatically.
You can still be parried in the first part like any other attacks.
If we follow your logic:
it's because you didn't feint your second part of your zone, when you had enough stamina to do so, and you landed it anyway entering in oos... that you should be punished for .
