Far Cry games are what I love, and hate the most about shooters.

Hi everyone. Staying safe I hope.

This isn't a criticism of these games, I know they do their own thing and they have their fans and I respect that. I'd just like to know if you folks think FC 6 will be pretty much more or what we saw in 5 and New Dawn. That way I know whether or not to get excited about it.

I love the open world, doing missions, scavenging and exploring sort of gameplay. And I've been really interested and motivated by the stories and I like the characters and the overall quality that I've seen with the last two games. Its just at the same time there is so much that I have to put up with in order to enjoy them. I don't like player respawn but ok they're multiplayer games so they have to do that. But then there's auto health regen, implausible crafting and how laughably OP animals are and how the games nearly constantly throw stuff at you (although they toned that down a bit in ND).

So do you think 6 will maintain those kinds of things?

    Cheers everyone.

Ubisoft is working towards making all their future titles(Like FC 6) an RPG. I personally don't mind FC6 being an RPG like FC ND. As the enemies and their health-bars are fair and on par with your upgraded weapons acquired through standard progression. So you won't get frustrated over the "I shot the bald guy who was wasn't wearing a helmet 10 times in the face and he still didn't die!" hehe. For the parts that you have to scavenge isn't as big of a deal than I had expected. Again, with standard progression(No need for alot of grinding or forking in real life $), finding parts and upgrading isn't much of a hassle. My concern is if the makeshift weapons will be non-customisable(No adding/removing of sights or scopes) like in FC ND.

Hated the new dawn rpg system. Having to shoot some animals/guys like a thousand times in order to kill them just because i had a low level weapons was a truly awful thing for a shooter.

FC5 is the best thing to have happened to tyhe series since the days of fc2. Please continue that trend; just make elite enemies to be more bullet proof (unless you shoot them in the head, like in fc5), and let's consider new dawn as something that never happened.

Please no bars/rpg system on the enemies for fc6. Weapons have to feel powerful, and enemies never like bullet sponges in a serious shooter game, specially when we have ballistics already at long last, which was another great aspect about fc5.

"To each their own", I guess. I actually thought New Dawn was a better game than FC5, though not by a huge amount. I actually liked how they made enemies more difficult to kill if you were lower level than them. And, I didn't really get the feel of bullet sponges at all. I mean if I had a blue weapon and was going after a purple level enemy I knew in advance that it was gonna take a few extra hits to kill them, but I didn't really get the feel it was a huge effort to kill them.

As far as RPG, I don't recall there being much of a difference in the way you interacted with characters in FC5 or ND. There was no options when interacting with the characters. You pulled up, interacted, they said their spiel, and you got a quest. Not really a huge RPG element like they did with AC: Odyssey where you had some choice in how the conversation progressed. I really hope they do go more to the RPG type style similar to, but more advanced than what they did in Odyssey. The choices you make should have an impact in how the story plays out. Done right, there could be several different ending to the game based on the choices you make throughout the game. Makes it more interesting when completing multiple play throughs of the game.

Edit: So I am going to add something here. Looking back at the posts in this thread I think there is a disconnect on what RPG is. Health bars are not RPG elements. RPG elements would include things like having multiple options in conversations and other choices you can make, like whether or not to accept a quest.

    My nightmare.

I'm starting Far Cry 6 and.............this is NEW DAWN!

With palms, tropical nature.....but New Dawn.
Full of craft-produced self-made weapons, shooting discs again...

    New Dawn 2.0.

But RPG elements is must have for a big open world game.
    Ballance is important.

    SENSE OF TASTE.

New Dawn was good as New Dawn. Postapocalyptic game.

But Yara is not a postapocalyptic country.
Cuba is in hard situation because of blockade but it is far from being postapocalyptic.

In fact, I think that every Far Cry should have it's own aura, unforgetable fleur.
Every game should have something unique.
    In particular and in general.

And Far Cry 6 = New Dawn 2.0 with new environment. I don't think it would be a good idea.

But good crafting is very important for a big open world game, designed for many of hours to spend.

Ballance and sense of taste will be crucial.

Moreover, I don't think people will like "immortal" animals, like it was in New Dawn.
To come across a crocodile that needs thousands of bullets to die, for instance..... definitely not good.

    So with humans.
    Their "immortality" should be justified.
With armor, or some energetic shield.

"A man in shorts" demanding hundreds of bullets......bad idea.

    So with self-made weapons.
People want to feel real weapons in their hands. Real guns.

After Fallout 4 was released gamers rushed to change home-made weapons for real weapons, in multiple mods.
Mods adding real firearms were very popular.

    But it was Post-Apocalypse!
    Where real guns spoil atmosphere.

What to say about not Post-Apocalypse?!

Real weapons should dominate in Far Cry 6. Absolutely prevail.

You guys mentioned the bullet sponges... couldn't agree more. I was really frustrated by that. Actually I was frustrated by the need to grind ethonol to upgrade and that whole thing, but particularly the bullet sponges. I remember not being able to kill one guy in particular. No matter how much I shot him. I ended up dropping a few motar rounds on him (a few mind you) to kill him. Just totally absurd, immersion-breaking and stupid.

the levels on enemys and weapons i hope is something that will not return it was not an enjoying system to play and it made new dawn one of if not the worst far cry games for me i hope this system is never again used in a far cry game there are much more interesting and cool ways to make a more challengeing game they could start by improving enemy ai for one thing

The only FC game that was fair with animals was Primal. Mammoth would take lots of spears to go down and same for cave bear but, hey, that seemed a bit natural as you can t expect wooden stick to kill multiple tons animals in a matter of seconds. And with the special mode of difficulty, companions could die.

On the other way, animals in FC are both enemies and allies if played correctly. I d expect bears to take a few bullets before dying. Same for rhinos or elephants. But wild dogs take full clips from enemies and yeah that s unrealistic but I got accustomed to this. They re part of this large cast of enemies that makes the franchise original. I ve seen heavy enemies survive rockets so, well...
