Random sleep-deprived tax-day thought:
Been playing a lot of Red Dead Online lately. Good "chill out and vibe" game. Got to thinking about the four "roles" that players can advance in / level up and get role-specific rewards for, most of which generally focus on different ways to play the game:
- Bounty Hunter role obviously focuses on tracking down and capturing [or killing] wanted criminals.
- Trader role focuses on hunting, and selling the products thereof.
- Collector role focuses on exploration and finding rare items / collections of items.
- Moonshiner role is sort of a "next step" Trader role. It's still focused on economy/business stuff, but obviously switches from "hunting" to "booze."
Wondering what folks would think about seeing a similar / comparable system in S&B, with different parallel (and not mutually exclusive) progression paths that focus on different types of activities in the game. Maybe something like:
- Pirate Hunter — Duh.
- Actual Pirate or Privateer — Also duh. "Privateer" could also involve improving relations with one or more AI factions.
- Merchant — Collecting cargo (either from port, shipwrecks, islands, etc.) and delivering it (to ports)
- Explorer / Treasure Hunter
Just random ideas, might be room for more roles, might just be plain stupid. I need more caffeine.
