Far Cry 6 Facts & Speculation

Far Cry 6 information seems to be spread out, so here's a lowdown along with some higher res pics:

    • Far Cry 6 is being developed by Ubisoft Toronto, cooperating with Berlin, Shanghai and Montreal (the developer of the previous Far Cry games). Work started about 4 years ago, while Far Cry 5 was still in development. *
    • Story is set in the fictional Cuba-inspired Caribbean island of Yara.
A "tropical paradise frozen in time", ruled by the dictator "El Presidente" Antón Costillo (actor Giancarlo Esposito) and his son Diego (actor Anthony Gonzalez).
    • The "largest Far Cry playground to date", Yara houses a capital city "Esperanza" with verticality apparently being a game changer on the gameplay side ("able to navigate rooftops and alleys"). *
    • Player plays as a local Yaran named Dani Rojas, a voiced freedom fighter with M/F gender choice *.
Player will also appear in cutscenes interacting with other characters throughout the game, moving away from the first-person dialogue sequences and making the protagonist more visible *.
    • There's mention of 3 DLCs, contents still to be announced.
    • Game has several additional content packs available:

    • Expected release date: February 18, 2021 Between April 1 2021 and March 28 2022 on Windows (Epic/Uplay/Uplay+), Google Stadia, PS 4/5, Xone/Series X.
Upgrading your copy to next-gen from PS4->PS5 or Xone->Series X will be free.
    • Xbox store claims it's rated T for Teen, but the Ubisoft Store and PSN store say "Rating Pending". ESRB search has no results, so I think xbox is wrong here.
    • Weapon arsenal:
      Spoiler:  Show
includes unconventional, makeshift weapons including "Discos Locos" (disc launcher, a preorder exclusive) and "El Tostador" (flamethrower). If you get "The Ultimate Pack", you also get the Vice Skorpion, Jungle Expedition Short Barrel Shotgun, and Croc Hunter .45-70 rifle.
    • Vehicles:
      Spoiler:  Show
Includes tank ** and horses **. According to a possible leak, maybe even a jetpack? *?
    • Amigo For Hire (Fangs for Hire in FC5) include
      Spoiler:  Show

      • Wiener-dog named "Chorizo":
      • Vice White Panther named "Champagne" (VICE PACK preorder)
      • Maybe even a crocodile and/or rooster?
        *

    • CO-OP multiplayer mentioned on the Ubi Store *.
    • MAP EDITOR: So far, there has been NO INFORMATION about a Map Editor so far. All main Dunia-engine Far Cry games (2,3,4,5) had a Map Editor, and I am hoping this will still be the case. We need additional information to say for sure.

    Hi-res Images:

For more media, check out the "Related Media for Far Cry 6 Collector's Edition" section on the Ubisoft Store page.

So far, I'm excited to see a voiced protagonist return, especially with more visibility in (cut)scenes. I'm assuming players can drive around on horses and tanks. If these assets come available for a Map Editor that also has the content from Far Cry 5's Arcade, then we'd really be in for a treat!

I'll probably be adding more things to this thread as time goes by (whenever map editor features get revealed? ).

    Changelog:
    20201210
Changed Horse and Tank to confirmed, from the Jul 13 UbiForward description

    20201102
Changed release date in light of news that FC6 got pushed to the next fiscal year, allegedly due to Covid.

    20201023
Added Screenshot 11, found at https://www.diskusjon.no/topic/18791...sielt-avduket/

    20200805
Initially added "DLC titles are possibly called "Beware the Dictator", "The Jewel of the Caribbean", and "A Nation Stranded in the Past". " from https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fa.../1100-6479627/.
Then removed them, as they seem to be just the paragraph header titles in the Ubisoft Store for even the Standard edition.

    20200715
Replaced some of the high-res screenshots with 4K variants from the fankit. Easier to zoom in and spot more details.

Fantastic post but this reveal is only continuing their past trends regarding revealing information and destroying MP seemingly intentionally.

It's true that Ubisoft thus far always first focuses on the SP/campaign experience. Mention of the map editor typically only comes after a first main game reveal.

If the game no longer uses the Dunia engine, then I can see the map editor not returning. Maybe even the development coming from Toronto may be indication that something will change.

But fact remains every major (numbered) Dunia Far Cry title has had a map editor. So saying past precedent suggests there will not be a map editor is something I don't see at all.

So did CryEngine for Far Cry 1 and Far Cry Instincts.

i am hopeing that xbox store is wrong and game will stay m rated and that they will make more use of that rating and make game more violent mature and gorey combat is more heart pounding when you see what the cost of being killed is like on your enemys

Hoping? It is wrong and they know it. That's more of a mistake since they just added the game to the store so we can pre-order. All Far Cry games have been rated M, why would Far Cry 6 change that after 16 years?

i do not like to assume so until i know for sure i will not assume something is wrong but you make a valid point that historicly far cry has been m rate game and that is not likely to change i do hope that they will better use that rating though and make combat more intense

I've been disappointed with the gameplay in the more recent Far Cry games, but I live in hope that Ubisoft will learn from its missteps. The things listed above interest me, though, so I will be watching to see how well the ideas are implemented into the game. I'll be watching and waiting for the game to be released and then determine whether or not I make a purchase.
