I'd like to take an informal tally concerning this bug. For me, this has been a repeatable error since release, and has occurred on different OS and hardware combos for the last six years.
If the player disables Karma Notifications via the interface menu, and then kills a Golden Path NPC, the game immediately crashes, and the process must be killed via the task manager.
Does this happen to you?
hmm the game is working as intended .. do not kill the golden path .. they are your ally
also verify your game files
Additionally, for other issues you may wish to look into, that may be the cause of your problem ...

Hey Baron,
Thanks for replying!
I've recorded the issue here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIxCMDC0TFo
This has happened since release, regardless of GPU/CPU/OS. Playing in English.
I do not get an error message that I can see. ??
Oh hi Mark.
Yes, I've tried those things many times throughout the years. This a bug in the game that has been around since release. It is specifically triggered when the game tries to show the player a negative karma notification when those notifications are disabled in the interface menu.
Here are some examples from the last five years, with confirmations from other users in the comments.

Thanks for your response. FC4 has received at least one update within the last year, so I hope that means there's still someone who can fix this!
umm hate to break the news to ya .. but far cry 4 has not had any updates in over 5 yearsOriginally Posted by BigTinz_ Go to original post
last update was in 2015 in may ..and yes they ,made other far cry games since then ..so dev time on far cry 4 is ..well OVER ..and has been for over 5 years

till you reach lvl 8 karma ..yes you lose karma points yes for killing civilians
this is not A GRAND THEFT AUTO GAME ..it's FAR CRY 4 ..![]()
Thanks for getting back in contact and providing these links. While we appreciate you taking the time to report this, it is unlikely there will be any further updates or patches to enable players to "murder" their allies in Far Cry 4.
I understand this may not be the response you were hoping for but if you continue to experience technical issues, please feel free to contact us with further details of your system specifications as advised in the stick posts on these forums.
Thanks for the response, but that's a real shame. I have no desire to murder allies, I'm sharing a fatal error in the code of a product that is still sold by your company.
It can and will happen when friendlies are also accidentally killed due to collateral damage. Players will continue to get unnecessary hard crashes as long as this isn't fixed.
I don't quite grasp the the mentality of folks on this message board like "WID992007" who so smugly claim that the game "works as intended".
1. You are Incorrect. FC4 received an update in February of 2019. It added a Chinese language patch file that completely overwrites certain portions of the patch_hd file.
2. I can assure you that the folks that spent years programming this game do not think a repeatable CTD is "working as intended".
3. If there is an interface option to turn something OFF, then it should actually function, not destabilize the game when it is engaged.
