This. Or try the first group of mobs in the mission, it's always a good indicator for things to come.Originally Posted by TOKYO_ROGUE Go to original post![]()
I personally use a turret / artificer hive build that has no problem taking down yellow npc’s in Heroic / Legendary. In fact tonight I played District Union and while two team mates were down (unable to be reached to heal) and another was a taking cover (DPS new to legendary) my turret / artificer took down the three “chungas” (or heavies or boomers) at the entrance one after the other while taking damage. I’ve run Capitol Legendary with randoms (all turret / drone skill builds except me) in 1 hr 16 mins and Roosevelt Legendary two days ago, again with randoms using turret / drone builds, in a best time for me 1 hr 7 mins. The fastest I’ve been with all DPS (all of us) was 1 hr 28 mins on Roosevelt. I don’t look at the stats other than time because I was told by a clan mate that a good time Legendary is about 1 hr 30 mins. I don’t speed run and take it as slow as necessary. I’m not bragging (or claiming to be a “meta” player because I’m not) I’m just saying that they are feasible builds in Heroic / Legendary missions.
I agree with other posters that it really does matter if the agent knows how to use the build or not. I’ve also played Legendaries that took over 3 hrs because of this and Heroics that took 2 hrs.
I do have multiple builds but have always played mainly as a skill build agent (in TD1 also) and find it fun. If built right the turret / drone can melt npc’s and stop charging npc’s as well. (Yes, I switch the hive out for a drone sometimes also.)
the last matchmaking i defenitly watched my team die, i got fed up with them sitting in the back litteraly doing nothing the entire match,Originally Posted by Merphee Go to original post
but usually yeah if one person in my team goes full skill and one goes something like eclipse, i'll protect these people with all i can, and take out chungus left and right
but when 3 people run beyond low builds with 0 skill there is only so much i can do to prevent them from getting 1 shot....
rushers arn't even remotely the problem tho, they die to everything xD
but you see, your last sentence is what i love about it.Originally Posted by PhantomPraetor Go to original post
you got multiple builds ready for situations, the people that matchmake defenitly have nothing els but this turret/drone build they saw from a random streamer and think they're godlike with this.
i've already been proven that a turret can DPS targets down, and it is clear to see people that matchmake play FAR above their difficulty and just simply want to be carried.
i seriously thought due to their performance constantly it was just that turret and drone/seeker were useless, but in reality it is just the players being absolutely trash.
and honestly if a legendary takes me 1:30h long... i give up on that one, concidering how long these have been released, and how cheesy you can beat them xD

I suggested trying the build yourself ages ago and you will see how strong it can be if built and used correctly.
As others have said if they have a bad version of the build or dont know how to use it properly then any build can be useless.
If you are really gonna try it and havent collected any of the pieces yet, then you can also use 3 piece Hardwired (NOT backpack and chest), 1 Hana-U and 1 Wyvern. That will get the most damage from your turret/drone at the sacrifice of a little haste and uptime, and as cooldown is low and uptime is longish anyway, you are not losing a great deal for the extra damage. And is easier to farm due to 3 piece Hardwired.
Talents can be Glass Canon, Kinetic Momentum, Spotter on chest
Tech Support, Acosta Go bag, Perfect/Combined Arms for backpack.
Max skill damage first on everything, then haste.
I personally use Spotter (Technician and laser pointer on both guns to proc) and Combined Arms along with In-Sync and Future Pefect (Spike doesnt stack with In-Sync, so I prefer Future Pefect for the occaisional overcharge but mainly stick with In-Sync)
Its been reported that skills actually double dip the damage from Spotter, so is actually marginally stronger than Glass Canon without the downsides, and Combined Arms is a 30% boost to skill damage, which doesnt rely on a kill as Tech Support does.
Using that combo means you should be shooting quite a bit, as just aiming at (Spotter) and hitting (In-Sync) boosts your skills and weapon damage so much.
The aggro the turret and drone both pull should enable you to do that with less risk than a full red build would have, and if you focus them both on the same target, and shoot it yourself, the combined damage melts pretty much anything.
Im not sure how people are dieing to rushers as Ive literally had them run right past me to get to my turret, more often then not
And ,again, just focus them and they drop real quick anyway.
Anyone just throwing the drone and turret out and hiding is playing them badly![]()
Exactly. Drone/turret is my favorite build for farming heroics, solo or in a group. I use it on Legendaries if nobody else is.Originally Posted by RichardOshea Go to original post
5 yellows and 1 Red in technician. Either perfect glass cannon with skill damage rolled, or a yellow glass cannon with skill damage rolled on Foxes Prayers. Perfect Combined Arms or Perfect Tech Support.
I die the least using my turret/drone build. When I do heroics, that is most important to me. I always use it solo but will sometimes switch to a status effects build when playing in a group. I rarely use my DPS build. It's probably just my preference in gaming. I tend to like being the puppeteer instead of the puppet.
Ah, you're one of... them. For most players a time of 90 minutes for a Legendary is acceptable, and given that if you're random matchmaking then "most players" are the people you're likely to end up running with then it's tough. STHU or GTHO.Originally Posted by RavennesVR Go to original post
I bet you're also the kind of player that complains Legendary is too easy, and you want more difficult stuff that challenges you, right? (I'm pretty sure I've seen you posting similar threads before.) Well maybe consider that the players matchmaking "above their difficulty" are essentially doing what you want to do -- playing content that is challenging.it is clear to see people that matchmake play FAR above their difficulty and just simply want to be carried
If you are by chance looking at the stats at the end of a mission, they are not even accurate. A friend and I go in to a mission. He’s a tank. I’m a skill build. Most of my damage came from my skills. Yet at the end of the mission it said I did like 50k DPS. Uhm ... not a Chance, especially with my mate using a pistol and somehow doing 300 mil. So I expand the stats. My skill damage according to the stats ... 0. 0 as in zero. The game did not register any skill damage from either of us in the mission and he used some skills, also.Originally Posted by RavennesVR Go to original post
i used to rely on thos stats to try and improve. Not any more. Those stats are so far off that now I wish I could just disable them altogether and not even get the stupid “press Z to see stats” at the end. More like, “Press Z to get some random numbers that are so far off it’s not even funny.”
That said, if folks are actually looking at those numbers and trying to believe them, I’m willing to bet skill builds are doing far more damage than that board says they are. I have the opposite observation of the OP, because I’ve had people tell me my skills kill things before they get a chance to shoot.
A little OT but I really really wish they'd fix the stupid thing. It's been broken since the day they added it, but despite the bugs being reported repeatedly there's apparently no rush to do anything about it. The only reliable figures seem to be deaths/revives/kills, everything else is complete garbage nonsense. (Kind of like the shooting range, I guess.) Unfortunately some people seem inclined to take them as proof of some harebrained theory or other, though, resulting in nonsense like this thread.Originally Posted by Fae_Dravin Go to original post
